He is welcomed with joy, especially by his mother Moira, his sister Thea and his best friend Tommy Merlyn, who, however, notice that Oliver has changed over the past five years. While hiding the truth about his "new self", he tries to reconcile with his former girlfriend, lawyer Laurel Lance, whom he cheated on with her sister Sara, who was also on the ship and died. During the day he tries to get closer to those he used to be close to, but at night, as a secret vigilante, he wants to fulfill his father Robert Queen's last wish with a bow and arrow: to stop the people who are ruining Starling City and to bring the city back to its former glory. His first target is the millionaire Adam Hunt. That cheats different people in Starling and thus comes to much wealth. Meanwhile, Detective Quentin Lance, Laurel's father, is tasked with catching the vigilante. Meanwhile, it turns out that Oliver's mother has an agenda in conflict with her son and has orchestrated a kidnapping to find out what his father told him after the shipwreck.

Laurel files a lawsuit against Martin Somers, who is also a target on Oliver's list, for drug trafficking with the Chinese Triads, which resulted in the death of a young woman's father. Instead, Somers informs the triads that put the killer China White on Laurel. The "hooded man" can save Laurel; Somers confesses to Oliver the murder, which he tapes and sends Detective Lance. Meanwhile, Moira and Walter Steele, a former friend of Roberts and his successor, urge him to take a position at the company. But since Oliver knows that he will not manage to reconcile this and his nightly work as a vigilante, he refuses. After Oliver is stranded on the island, he is attacked by a mysterious hooded man with a bow and arrow.

Oliver is in the middle of tracking down another millionaire when he is killed by a hit man named Deadshot . Contrary to the evidence, the police initially believe that the hood murdered the man. To explain his nightly disappearance, Oliver decides to open a discotheque above his base. While comparing the competition, he finds out from Thea that Laurel and Tommy slept together in his absence. Laurel finds it suspicious that Oliver was not particularly surprised when he heard the news and believes he knew this beforehand. With the help of Detective Lance, Oliver tries to stop Deadshot, which he then succeeds in apparently killing him. However, Oliver's bodyguard John Diggle is shot and in order to save him, Oliver reveals his identity as a vigilante. The archer heals Oliver's wounds and explains that he just wanted to help him. But Oliver doesn't trust him and flees from him, but runs straight into the arms of armed soldiers.

Diggle wakes up in Oliver's secret quarters and identifies him as the vigilante. Oliver offers to join him in making the city safer. However, Diggle is shocked when he realizes that Oliver is a murderer and refuses. As Oliver later watches the news, he notices connections between Declan, a man facing the death penalty, and Jason Brodeur, a name on his list. He finds out that Declan is innocent, but needs Laurel's help to prove it. Together they manage to uncover the truth, but Jason Brodeur has his bodyguard stage a prison break, so that he keeps Laurel and Declan imprisoned. Disguised as a guard, Oliver sneaks into prison and saves the two, where he meets the still living Deadshot. Ultimately, the bodyguard confesses to Declans innocence. Diggle meets with Oliver again to accept the offer and to protect the city together. Diggle makes it clear to Oliver that he could use an ally so that the whole burden doesn't rest on Oliver's shoulders. Detective Lance accuses Oliver of being the vigilante because he saw Oliver with the hooded man's equipment through the surveillance camera. Meanwhile, Walter discovers an old warehouse owned by Moira where the sabotaged, salvaged yacht is kept.

After Oliver was accused by Detective Lance of being the vigilante, he took Laurel as a lawyer. The prosecutor says that after five years on a deserted island, Oliver Queen is now suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and should be admitted to a mental hospital. Oliver declines the offer and instead prefers a polygraph test to convince Detective Lance. The test results show that Oliver is not the vigilante. Oliver shows Laurel his scars and tells her that he was tortured on the island. While he is not allowed to leave the house in custody, he throws a party to show that his old Playboy image is still intact. Diggle takes over the job of the vigilante and has to stop a German arms dealer who sells fully automatic weapons in the gangs in the city. The plan works and the charges are dropped. Meanwhile, Moira meets with a secret accomplice who knows the list of the "hooded man" and sees it as a threat to their joint venture. Fed up with all of Moira's secrets, Walter leaves the house. Oliver is tortured by the soldiers because he is supposed to reveal where the archer is. He does not reveal his whereabouts and is saved by the Chinese.

Oliver is in the process of preparing for a new name on his list when Diggle advises him to expand his activities by helping the police find a group of bank robbers. Oliver refuses at first, because he thinks this project affects the concept of saving the city (with the list). Finally, however, Diggle can convince him. With various police files and the help of IT specialist Felicity Smoak, he succeeds in finding out that the band of robbers and their leader Derek Reston, who once worked for Queen Consolidated, are one family who are affected by the relocation from 1500 jobs by Robert Queen to China, lost their homes. Oliver meets with Reston and, as compensation, gives him another chance to end the attack and get away innocent. Reston disregards the suggestion and robs the nearest bank with his family, whereupon the vigilante intervenes. When they meet, Reston is shot. Meanwhile, Tommy is running a fundraiser for Laurel's shaky company, CNRI, to keep them going and to show Laurel that he has a serious relationship between them. After being rescued by the Chinese Yao Fei, Oliver discovers his father's notebook.

On her way to a meeting with Oliver, Moira is injured in the street by a secret assassin whose aim was to murder an ally of the Mafia boss Frank Bertinelli. Oliver tries to investigate Frank's business to get to the perpetrator. Frank thinks China White and the Triads are the killers of his people. Then Oliver finds out that Helena Bertinelli, Frank's daughter, with whom he recently had a date, was the attacker. Helena wants revenge on her father for the murder of her fiancé. The two are kidnapped by Frank's henchman Nick Salvati. After Helena learns that it was Nick who killed her fiancé, she kills him. She also identifies Oliver as the "hooded man" after a fight with Frank's people. Finally, Helena explains to him that she believes that their similar stories make them so drawn to each other. Meanwhile, Tommy is turned off by his father, who turns out to be Moira's secret companion in their project, so that he no longer has any money at his disposal. In the meantime, Walter has also returned after a few weeks off.

Oliver decides to teach Helena about justice beyond revenge after seeing her attempt to kill the head of the triads. Diggle believes Oliver is guided by his feelings and is suspicious of Helena. Oliver explains to her that her father's company can also be brought down by handing over key police officers alone. Helena begins to practice the scholarship, but when it comes to an embarrassing dinner with Laurel and Tommy, after which Helena decides that Oliver is only using it, and gives up his currency. Thus Helena kills the leader of the triads, for which China White and her people blame Frank Bertinelli, whom the vigilante can save both from them and from Helena. But Helena refuses to forgive her father, who is arrested by the police, and threatens Oliver to reveal his secret if he gets too close to her again in the future. Tommy admits to Oliver that he is no longer getting any money from his father and asks him for a job at his new nightclub.

Adam Hunt is killed by a mysterious archer who Detective Lance believes is a copycat. However, his superiors believe the vigilante was back at work. Oliver tries to improve the depressed mood in the family and takes care of the upcoming Christmas decorations so that he can celebrate a wonderful and happy holiday with his family, to which Tommy and Laurel are also invited. In the meantime, Oliver has succeeded in saving more hostages from the copycat perpetrator, whereby both of them injure each other. Then the archer reveals himself to be Tommy's father, Malcolm. Malcolm kidnaps Walter Steele to make sure Moira doesn't get in the way of his business. In the hospital, Oliver vows to catch the mysterious copycat. Yao Fei manages to capture Edward Fyers, the leader of the soldiers. He explains to Oliver that Lian Yu Island was once a prison for felons. The task of the special soldier unit, led by Fyers, is to eliminate the last inmates, including Yao Fei. Fyers leads them into a trap in which the Chinese is captured, but Oliver is able to escape.

Six weeks after the fight with the mysterious archer, Oliver avoids any activity as a vigilante, although Diggle tries to make it clear to him that the city needs him. Meanwhile, a firefighter dies on duty, where Laurel believes he was murdered, and then secretly picks up her father's phone, with whom he communicates with the vigilante to inform them of her suspicions. Oliver investigates the clue and finds out that the killer is a firefighter himself, but that he escapes in a duel with him. Oliver admits to Diggle that he is now feeling the fear of losing someone important again, which he did not initially feel when he returned. But Diggle assures him that this feeling is better than having no one close to you. In the meantime, Oliver has identified the fireman killer as Garfield Lynns, who allegedly died years ago in a large-scale operation, but survived with countless burns. Lynns shows up at a fire brigade charity gala to take revenge on his former fire brigade commander, who at the time did not send him any support into the building that was burning down, as he considered it pointless. When they meet, Oliver can save the fire chief. Lynns confesses his mistakes and commits suicide in the flames. On the side, Detective Lance discovers that Laurel is secretly using his vigilante phone and bugged it to eavesdrop on the phone calls between the two.

When a money truck is ambushed and the drivers are killed, Oliver says one of the robbers is former marine Ted Gaynor, who is also a name on his list. Diggle doesn't believe this, as Gaynor was his commanding officer on Diggle's first mission in Afghanistan, who then saved his life. Regardless of this, Oliver gets encrypted data, but then he suddenly faces Diggle, who is defending his old commander in front of him. The data contains secret plans for a transporter robbery, which Oliver wants to use in his favor to bring down the thieves in their next robbery. He informs Diggle that although it was not Gaynor himself, but one of the people from his security company, was there for the robbery. In the course of his investigation, Diggle finds out that Gaynor is in fact the leading figure in the gang. However, he is then forced to join the team to make up for the money lost in the last robbery. After Gaynor realizes that Diggle is only taking part, however, he wants to kill him in revenge. Oliver can prevent this in time and kills Gaynor. He then apologizes to Diggle for not trusting him. Meanwhile, Thea, believing that her mother was cheating on Walter, takes the drug "Vertigo" and drives into a tree at excessive speed. She is arrested by the police for driving a car under the influence of drugs. Oliver realizes that he was betrayed by Yao Fei because he works with Fyers.

When she is prosecuted, Thea tries to get a good verdict from the prosecutor's office, but is presented by the judge as an example for drug dealers in this city. Thus, this causes the case to go to court. To help Thea, Oliver tries to find out who the Vertigo supplier is. He comes across a man who calls himself " Count Vertigo " and arranges a meeting with him through his Russian connections. The meeting goes awry when the police suddenly show up. Oliver is injected with an overdose of Vertigo by Count Vertigo as he chases him. During the aftermath of his overdose, he recalls moments on the island (see below) . Diggle brings Oliver to his shelter and heals him there with the help of a special herb from the island. Oliver then analyzes the drug and uses the ingredients to trace Count Vertigo's path. When they meet again, Oliver, this time in the role of the vigilante, injects an overdose of Vertigo just as the police appear. Laurel persuades her father to use a few connections so that Thea only gets 2 years probation and 500 hours of social work, which she then starts right away at Laurel's law firm. Meanwhile, Felicity shows Oliver the exact same notebook as his father's that Walter found, only from his mother. Fyers orders Yao Fei to kill Oliver, which the latter apparently does, but leaves him alive with a special move.

Oliver confronts his mother with the notebook. However, this denies any knowledge of it. Diggle doesn't trust Moira and spies on her in her daily activities. Laurel needs the help of the "hood" as the criminal Cyrus Vanch has been released from prison. Oliver seeks evidence to put Vanch behind bars. He notices this and kidnaps Laurel so that he can murder the vigilante and take control of the city's gangs. Detective Lance and the "Hooded Man" work together to save Laurel when Lance realizes that Vanch has learned through contacts with the police that his daughter and the vigilante are connected. The two can save Laurel, and Oliver must stop Lance from taking revenge on Vanch for kidnapping his daughter. The "hooded man" wants to break off contact with Laurel so as not to put her in any further danger. Meanwhile, Diggle has managed to find evidence of Moira's connection to a group Oliver is after and the safekeeping of the sabotaged yacht. Oliver interrogates his mother for the second time, but this time as a vigilante. Oliver meets Slade Wilson , an agent of the Australian secret service who came with the mission to free Yao Fei.

As a vigilante, Oliver comes to Moira to interrogate her, but is shot by Moira. He escapes and has to ask Felicity for help about his injury, but is therefore forced to reveal his secret to her. Felicity takes him to his hiding place, where Diggle removes the bullet and heals Oliver's wound. At the same time, memories of the island come up in Oliver (see below) . Felicity agrees to help the two of them until they find Walter again. Diggle promises Oliver to stop spying on his mother, but is suspicious of Moira's connections to Oliver's father's notebook. Slade trains Oliver to attack a soldier supply plane in order to escape from the island. He also explains to Oliver that the man who tortured Oliver back then was Billy Wintergreen, a former partner of his. He betrayed Slade and joined Fyer's team. They manage to get to the runway and Slade tries by radio to order an air strike to destroy Fyer's entire station. While trying to get Yao Fei out of the camp before the attack, Oliver is captured by Fyer's men. Before Fyers executes Oliver, he is rescued by Slade, who kills his old friend Wintergreen in a duel. The two miss the plane and agree to fight Fyers together in the future and to try to escape from the island. Eventually it is revealed that Yao Fei only works for Fyers because he is holding his daughter Shado prisoner.

A man named "Dodger" is currently in Starling City. He steals money by kidnapping people he puts on special explosive collars, forcing them to steal for him. Felicity advises Oliver to bug the phone of McKenna Hall, an old friend of his, to get information about the Dodger. In addition, she persuades him to meet Hall on a date to get a little break. Using the bugged phone, Oliver finds out where the dodger will strike next. There he is stunned by a bomb so that the thief can escape. To get hold of the dodger, Oliver hosts a local donation auction with antique jewels. The plan works, but the dodger provides Felicity with a neck bomb while shadowing him to secure his escape. While Diggle removes the bomb from Felicity's neck, Oliver manages to stop the Dodger. Meanwhile, Moira hires the killer China White to murder Malcolm Merlyn so that she can leave her organization unhindered and get Walter back. Oliver is faced with a difficult decision when he meets a handcuffed, injured man who asks him to help him. But since he fears it is a trap by Fyers, he leaves the man alone.

Oliver stops the hit man Guillermo Barrera, who comes to Starling City, and needs Felicity's help to decipher the assassin's phone and find out who his victim was. China White hires Deadshot, who appears to have survived the fight with Oliver, to murder Malcolm Merlyn after the previous killer was stopped by the vigilante. Meanwhile, Malcolm tries to get his son Tommy to come to an awards ceremony where he will receive an award for his philanthropic achievements; when Oliver urges Tommy to do so, he finally gives in to his indignation. Ultimately, Oliver finds out that the assassination attempt on Malcolm is to be carried out at the gala and appears at the last moment to save him. Despite almost being captured by McKenna Hall, Oliver manages to get Malcolm away from China White's men. In an office, however, Malcolm is eventually hit by one of Deadshot's poison balls, and Oliver is forced to reveal his identity as a vigilante to Tommy in order to secure his trust so that he can save Malcolm's life. Malcolm later reveals to Moira that he believes a traitor from among his own ranks was the culprit and confides in her to catch the deceiver. Elsewhere, Laurel meets her mother Dinah, who shows her clues that Sara may still be alive. Oliver repairs a radio in Slade's wrecked plane that allows them to eavesdrop on Fyers and his men.

Helena returns to Starling City to kill her father as he plans to strike a deal with the FBI to pardon his sentence and witness protection. She asks Oliver for help, but he refuses. Helena attacks Tommy, forcing Oliver's assistance. Together they chase an armed truck, but Helena is caught by the police because everything turns out to be a trap. Oliver frees Helena from police custody to protect his identity and asks her to leave town. Instead, however, Helena forces Felicity to find out her father's whereabouts for her. Oliver discovers the truth and manages to prevent Helena's murder of her father, but when McKenna Hall appears, Helena shoots her and Helena escapes. At the hospital, McKenna reveals to Oliver that she will be moving to Coast City for rehabilitation , so they will have to end their relationship. Meanwhile, Tommy wrestles with Oliver's secret, which in turn affects his relationship with Laurel. Meanwhile, Dinah shows Laurel and her ex-husband Quentin evidence of Sara's existence. Slade and Oliver steal the circuit board of a rocket launcher from Fyers and plan to escape the island by trading it.

Another vigilante named "The Redeemer" is in Starling City kidnapping a slum lord, also on Oliver's list, whose charges were recently dropped for bribing prosecutors. The Savior forces him to confess what he has done, only to then shoot him in front of a live camera on the Internet. When the Redeemer kidnaps the prosecutor and also interrogates him, Felicity tries to find out the location of Oliver. The signal moves, however, so that Oliver is unable to save the lawyer. Next, the Redeemer takes on Thea's friend Roy Harper, whom he believes is another gangster. Diggle finds out that the Redeemer is in a disused subway train, driving through the city. Oliver manages to get on the subway, save Roy and stop the Redeemer. By now he has realized that the secret organization's plans have something to do with the Glades, an area plagued by poverty and crime. Meanwhile, Laurel convinces her mother and father, who now also believes in Sara's survival, that the woman in the picture Dinah got from China is not Sara. Malcolm contacts the triads, who should find out for him who was responsible for the attack on him. Moira pretends that her co-conspirator Frank Chen has betrayed Malcolm, whereupon Malcolm kills him in archery clothing and he thanks Moira for his loyalty. Oliver and Slade manage to free Yao Fei's daughter Shado, but at the expense of the rocket launcher's circuit board.

After a girl dies from a novel form of vertigo, Oliver plans to interrogate the Count and find out who is drugged in the Glades. But Oliver realizes that the Count has lost his mind due to the overdose of Vertigo he gave him a few months ago. When Oliver sees on the news that Count Vertigo escaped from the mental hospital shortly after visiting him, he fears that the Count was feigning his mental illness. Detective Lance uncovers links between Tommy and Vertigo and tries to find out the whole truth, almost discovering the secret hiding place of the "hooded man". Fortunately, Tommy has hidden all of Oliver's gear so Lance can't find anything. After Tommy realizes that even Oliver distrusts him on suspicion of drug trafficking, he has had enough and quits; this leads to Tommy asking his father for a job. When Felicity is able to pinpoint an anti-psychotic compound in the drug, Oliver realizes that the truth is that Count Vertigo's psychiatrist is responsible for the drug's reappearance. Oliver is able to stop the doctor and decides to let the count, who has actually lost his mind and unwittingly been the scapegoat for the doctor's actions, live. Afterward, Oliver promises to help Diggle catch Deadshot, who once killed Diggle's brother. Shado begins training Oliver on how to use a bow.

Laurel represents the Moore family, who are indicting the corrupt businessman Edward Rasmus, who fraudulently robbed them of their money. However, a killer is set on the family, with the couple's young child being the only survivor. Until the rest of the family is informed, Laurel takes the little boy under custody, but the killer lies in wait for him because the boy could identify him. The vigilante can save Laurel, and Tommy suggests that they all stay with the queens for safety until the police catch the killer. An organization called ARGUS is in the process of catching Deadshot, but Oliver decides to locate the man who hired the killer instead of focusing on Deadshot. After Diggle realizes that Oliver chose Laurel, even though he had given him the promise to help with the setting of Deadshots, he feels betrayed by Oliver and leaves him. After his client is murdered, the killer comes to the Queens residence to eliminate all remaining witnesses, but is killed there by Oliver before he can approach Laurel and the boy. Tommy breaks up with Laurel, knowing that if she found out Oliver's secret, he would have no chance with her. Elsewhere, Roy continues his search for the "hooded man". After Thea realizes how important this is to him, she helps him with it. Shado continues teaching Oliver how to use the bow when they are surprised by Yao Fei, who led Fyers and his men to their hiding place, whereupon all three are captured.

Disguised as a gambler with Felicity, the two succeed in infiltrating the casino. After being beaten and threatened by Oliver as a hooded man, Alonzo reveals that Walter had been killed. Oliver informs his family about it and Moira immediately goes to Malcolm, who shows her that Walter is alive. Oliver, who overhears the two, discovers that Tommy's father is the head of the secret organization and asks Felicity to hack the phone records to locate Walter's location. As a vigilante, he frees Walter and reunites him with his family. The plan works and the two break into Merlyn Global with Felicity to hack the mainframe and find the location of the device. Oliver convinces Tommy to return to Laurel, but when he realizes that once he has stopped the machine he could give up his vigilante activities, he decides to reconcile himself with Laurel; later Tommy sees Oliver and Laurel kissing. Diggle tries to track down the device, but Malcolm changed the location of the device after discovering the hack attack. The hooded man tries to kill Malcolm, the two fight, but Malcolm is superior to Oliver and defeats him so that he can discover his secret. In the meantime, Walter has found out that Moira was involved in his kidnapping and then gives her the divorce papers. Fyers reveals to the three prisoners that he plans to weaken China's economy by shooting down a Chinese plane with a rocket launcher. As a result, China's airspace is said to be considered unsafe or threatened. After forcing Yao Fei to take responsibility for the airstrike via video message, he shoots him.

Watching the conference live on television, Tommy goes to his father, who, to his dismay, shows him that he is the black archer. With the help of Felicity over the phone, Detective Lance manages to disable the earthquake device. Diggle and Oliver pursue Malcolm and Oliver mortally wounds him. Malcolm explains to them as he dies that there is a second device. It activates immediately and destroys the east side of the Glades. Thea also comes there to get Roy, who is in the process of helping people. Meanwhile, Laurel is trapped in her office at CNRI in the Glades, but Tommy comes to rescue her. Laurel escapes, but Tommy is hit by falling debris and seriously injured. Oliver is late and Tommy succumbs to his injuries. Fyers fires a missile at an approaching plane, but Oliver and Shado manage to overwrite the coordinates, so that the missile misses its target and instead destroys the camp of Fyers and his people. In the ensuing fight, Oliver manages to kill Fyers, who threatens Shado with a gun.

Lance is forced to ask Oliver's alter ego for information because he is officially banned from investigating the case. Finally, the two of them arrive at Mathis' test lab and uncover the link between all the crimes. Lance and Laurel are kidnapped by the "doll maker" whose plan is to kill them both. The vigilante can save Quentin and Laurel, but before he can capture Mathis, the blonde vigilante appears and kills him. During the Moira trial, the public prosecutor reveals his request to impose the death penalty on her in exchange for the countless victims of the earthquake. Later, an agent from Ra's al Ghul pays a visit to the vigilante who is killed by her because she does not want to rejoin the organization. Oliver and Slade rush to the aid of Shado, who is attacked by unknown attackers, who then drag Oliver onto the ship Amazo after his unsuccessful rescue attempt .

The same person turns up at an event organized by Oliver and Blood and threatens or attacks those present. As a result, Felicity can identify the mayor and locate his location. Oliver recruits Sara to take him together. A corrupt police officer then takes the captured mayor to an unknown location, where Blood injects him with a green substance that kills the prisoner. In the meantime, Laurel develops a real alcohol problem, with which she doesn't let her father or Oliver help her. In response, Oliver asks Sara if he should confront her with her family, but Oliver's friendship with Laurel would end. Oliver is questioned about the Japanese corpses on the ship, but refuses to cooperate and as a result is taken to an interrogation room, where he meets Sara, who is still alive.

To protect him, Sara shows her father and leads him to her hideout in the clock tower. Together with Oliver, they manage to stop the assassin's second attack, and Sara manages to kill Al-Owal. Afterward, Sara decides to leave Starling City to protect her family and confides her secret to her father. With the encouragement of her children, Moira tries to avoid the death penalty and is given the opportunity to receive a life sentence instead. Isabel Rochev finds out about the flight and leaves without further ado, fearing that Oliver wanted to deal with the international division of Queen Consolidated at a meeting behind her back. Oliver and Diggle realize that Lyla is being held in a gulag . They devise a plan, whereupon Diggle deliberately allows himself to be captured in order to get to Lyla. When he is finally in the gulag, Diggle finds Deadshot trapped in an isolation ice chamber. They are forced to work together to save Lyla and escape. After successfully escaping, Diggle lets Deadshot go, who in turn reveals to him that the murder of his brother was an assignment from HIVE. Dr. Ivo reveals to Oliver that the Japanese soldiers carried a special serum with them, which gives tremendous power and also improves regeneration skills many times over. Sara later falsely says Oliver that she knew Slade and Shado were still alive. Oliver is supposed to be executed, but in order not to let him die, Sara convinces Ivo that they should better spare him.

Oliver realizes that the thief had the same serum that Dr. Anthony Ivo was looking for the island. Roy and Thea almost fall into Oliver's case when they help Sin find her missing boyfriend, but Oliver shoots Roy to keep him from getting involved. Oliver manages to track down the thief, but during the fight he is injured and infected with an unknown toxin. To save Oliver's life, Felicity calls Barry to give him an antidote. Meanwhile, Merlyn continues to press Moira into telling Thea that he is her real father. Instead, Moira contacts Ra's al Ghul, who wants to kill Merlyn anyway, because he broke the oath of the League of Assassins by destroying the Glades. Merlyn then explains to Moira that he will go now, but that the affair with Thea is not over yet. Oliver, Sara and Shado find the serum and inject it into the wounded Slade, who then has a heart attack.

However, the serum fails, causing Roy to die. Oliver reaches the place, stops Cyrus and destroys the centrifuge and the remaining serum. He is able to revive Roy but fears the serum will have a negative effect on him. Eventually it is revealed that the mastermind behind Blood and his actions is the present-day Slade. This immediately orders Blood to leave the vigilante alone because he wants to take care of him personally. As Roy rehabilitates at the Queens mansion, he notices that his arrow wound healed quickly. Barry returns to Central City and hands Oliver a domino mask as a farewell for better disguise. Back in his laboratory, Barry is doused in chemicals after a new particle accelerator explodes in a storm. Ivo appears, takes Shado and Sara prisoner and lets Oliver decide which of the two lives and who dies. After Oliver doesn't make a choice, Ivo murders Shado, whereupon Slade appears with supernatural powers, puts Ivo to flight and kills his men.

Eventually, Laurel is suspended from duty due to her now revealed drug addiction. Meanwhile, Sin and Roy try to use Roy's powers for the good by attacking a murderer, but losing control and seriously injuring the man. Arrow offers his help to Roy to teach him how to control himself both mentally and physically. Sara receives a call from Ivo, who tries to convince her that it would be the right thing to come back to him with the Mirakuru. However, after Sara remembers all those tortured on the freighter, she refuses.

Sara agrees to save her mother, but first drinks snake venom to prevent her return. Arrow gives her an antidote in time and Nyssa releases her from the duties of the League. Moira's political campaign begins, and Felicity discovers that Malcolm Merlyn is Thea's real father. Although Moira threatens not to reveal it, she tells Oliver. Thereupon Tockman reciprocates by hacking himself into Oliver's computer with the help of the device, causing it to overload and ultimately explode. Since the team no longer depends on Felicity's help, she feels - with Sara on the team - useless, whereupon she appears on her own as bait at Tockman's next bank robbery. Oliver, Sara and Diggle arrive at the last second to save Felicity, who is shot in the ensuing fight, but Sara saves her life. Eventually they manage to catch Tockman. The Lance family has arranged to have dinner together, which Oliver is also present. When Laurel learns of the relationship between Oliver and Sara, she becomes angry again, but gets along with Sara, to whom she reveals her reasons for being angry with her; Laurel also joins an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, which Quentin already attends. Meanwhile, Slade comes to the Queens mansion to meet with Moira about her candidacy, but above all to show Oliver his presence. Oliver, Sara and Slade watch a plane shoot down over the island. From all this, Oliver concludes that Slade is the man behind the skull mask and that he plans to make even more Mirakuru. Finally, it is revealed that Slade only used the visit to secretly position cameras behind Oliver's back around the house. Oliver, Sara and Slade devise a plan for how they want to infiltrate Ivo's freighter. They burn the Mirakuru, get on the ship, Sara frees the prisoners and Oliver and Slade take on Ivo. Previously, Sara had convinced Oliver that it would be best to kill Ivo to keep him from telling Slade how Shado died, knowing that Slade secretly loved her and therefore will hold Oliver responsible for her death. But when they meet Ivo, Oliver can't stop him from telling the truth about Shado's death, whereupon Slade attacks Oliver in a rage attack and finally locks him up while Sara escapes from the ship with the prisoners. The angry Slade explains to the captured Oliver that before they really only destroyed an empty box instead of the Mirakuru, which is now in Slade's possession. He also promises Oliver that he will torment him as much as he suffered from Shado's death.

Amanda Waller asks Lyla and Diggle to lead the command she founded, also known as "Task Force X". The group has their first assignment with Gholem Qadir, a former terrorist who is free again after years in prison. Waller knows that Qadir is only pretending to have sincere interests, because the truth is that he has a dangerous weapon that the team should salvage. After a fake assassination attempt on Qadir, who was deliberately saved by Diggle, he invited him to a party out of gratitude, especially since Diggle saved Qadir's life years ago (see below) . This is part of the plan, because the invitation gives the commando better access to the secret weapon. Eventually Deadshot arrives at the weapon, not knowing that a drone has focused on his fake eye, only to explode when it is with him and the weapon. Diggle realizes that the plan was to destroy the weapon and thus Deadshot, so he saves him by fleeing from the drone, which does not destroy the weapon. Meanwhile, a now informed SEAL team storms the house and kills Qadir. Meanwhile, Oliver asks Waller for help about Slade, revealing that the two have worked together before. She offers Oliver the help of Deathstroke , a mercenary raised by ARGUS without knowing that he is Slade. In Afghanistan, Diggle and Lyla are leading a group of villagers when they are ambushed in which Diggle saves the life of Afghan Gholem Qadir.

Sara tries to save Laurel from the building, but is overwhelmed by Helena, who now forces Oliver to swap Frank for Laurel. Eventually he hands the prisoner over to her, but when a SWAT team appears, a firefight breaks out in which Frank dies. Ultimately, Sara can take out Helena, who is then taken away by Quentin. The prosecution also decides to reinstate Laurel permanently as a lawyer. Meanwhile, Roy realizes that he is too much of a threat to Thea due to Mirakuru's influence and leads to their separation. But when he gets there, Thea has long been free again, and he realizes that this was all just a diversionary maneuver by Slade so that he can easily ambush a prisoner transport to free the prisoners for Mirakuru experiments. Meanwhile, Thea says Slade told her that Malcolm Merlyn was her real father. After repeatedly helping the vigilante, Quentin Lance is finally arrested, while Roy leaves Starling City for good after the breakup. Finally, Slade pays Laurel a visit, where he tells her that Arrow is actually Oliver. Sara plans to deliver the repairman to Slade only if he releases Oliver for it. Sara and the refugees hatch a plan to kill Slade in the exchange. The plan goes wrong, but Oliver can still be saved.

Upon further investigation, Oliver finds out that Slade kidnapped Roy so that he could use his blood transfusion to inject the Mirakuru into the other inmates. When Oliver and his team storm Slade's lab, they free Roy and mortally wound Isabel Rochev. Eventually, Oliver reveals that there is an antidote for Mirakuru. However, since they do not have the necessary funds to develop it, they ask the two STAR Labs scientists Caitlin Snow and Cisco Ramon for help. After Laurel learns that Oliver is Arrow, she tries to confirm this through research. She realizes that Arrow's colleague Canary must be Sara. When Laurel visits her father in the hospital after he was beaten up in prison, he explains that after working with Arrow, he discovered that it doesn't matter who he really is, only what he represents for the city . Laurel manages to get Quentin out of prison by blackmailing the guards with the fact that they have endangered the health of an inmate due to poor supervision. Finally, they lure him to Verdant, where Oliver injects snake venom into him, which temporarily numbs him. They decide to keep Roy unconscious until they find a cure for him. Sara tells Oliver that she plans to leave town so that she won't be a burden to Oliver or her family. Meanwhile, Thea distances herself more and more from her family, as she is shocked about what Moira and Oliver have kept from her. Meanwhile, Isabel Rochev explains to Thea that she is closing the Verdant, whereupon Thea wonders if she should leave Starling City. Sebastian Blood, meanwhile, takes office as mayor and Laurel discovers during an investigation that Sebastian knew even before Moira's death that she would die. Laurel reveals to Oliver that she knows he is Arrow and then shows him that Sebastian and Slade are working together. When Oliver confronts Sebastian with this, he realizes that there is nothing he can do but fight Slade's Mirakuru army. So Arrow and Laurel make their way to Starling's underground, where the army is based, but when they attack the two, Oliver prevents the Mirakuru soldiers from reaching them by collapsing the ceiling, causing them to separated from the attackers, but also caught in the rubble. The other soldiers meanwhile begin to devastate the city, killing civilians as well, while Diggle is attacked by Isabel Rochev in the suit of Slade's army and strengthened by the Mirakuru. Oliver, Sara and their Russian friend, the refugee Anatoli, arrive at the old Japanese submarine that Anatoli is trying to repair in order to attack the Amazo .

When Slade also learns of this, he sends his men to get the antidote from Oliver. Felicity also finds out who Lacroix's next victim will be and Oliver stops him. However, Laurel appears with a pistol to avenge Sara's death on the archer Lacroix, when he reveals to the two that he was busy elsewhere that night. So the team has to start all over again with the search for Sara's murderer. Finally, they bury Sara's body in its former grave. Laurel intends to inform her father, but does not have the heart. However, after a drug lord was killed in a fight, he stopped working. Together they follow the corpse trail that leads them to the real murderer who attacks them, revealing that Ted and Ted know each other. When the police arrive, Ted is arrested while the real perpetrator escapes. Meanwhile, Roy shares his concerns about his dreams that he might have killed Sara, which particularly shocks Laurel. Ted identifies the killer as Isaac Stanzler, who used to be his partner in Ted's time as a vigilante, but whom he left after he killed a drug lord. During the analysis of Caitlin's investigation of the arrows, Felicity discovers that it is Oliver's DNA, whereupon Merlyn believes Merlyn to be the killer and suspects that he provided the arrows with Oliver's DNA. When they find out that Merlyn has returned from Corto Maltese the day before Sara's death, they look at a video from the security camera at the airport and discover that he was accompanied by Thea. Finally, Merlyn shows Oliver a video that shows Thea killing Sara, which explains the similar DNA on the arrows. Merlyn also explains that he made Thea mindless with a special plant and was able to control her. Oliver recognizes Merlyn's plan: With the video as evidence, Oliver is now forced to pretend to be the murderer to protect Thea from Ra's. This would result in a duel with Ra's, according to League custom. With Oliver's assassination of Ra's, Merlyn would be freed from all of his sins towards her, according to League custom. So after Oliver confesses his love to Felicity, he has no choice but to visit Ra's and challenge him to a duel, which takes place a few hours later on a snowy mountain. Ra's is clearly superior to Oliver in sword fighting, whereupon he pierces Oliver with the saber and knocks him off the mountain. Oliver and Maseo discover that China White is targeting an extremely dangerous biological virus. The two of them can't stop them from stealing it and kidnapping Maseo's wife Tatsu.

With the sword as evidence, Merlyn shares his findings with the team. Diggle realizes Brick's plan by stealing evidence from several defendants to get them to work for him. So Diggle and Roy set off for the warehouse, where all the evidence is kept, but are confronted with Brick's vastly outnumbered gang. In a direct duel with Brick, Diggle hits him in the head with a pistol shot, but this has no effect, whereupon the gang with the evidence flees. Brick then explains to the new members of his crew his plan to take power in the Glades. Then Laurel, who also learned of Oliver's death, appears in her sister's Canary suit and kills two of Bricks people. After the failed mission, Felicity declares her work in the team over in front of Diggle and Roy. Meanwhile, Oliver's frozen body is recovered by Maseo, who brings him to Tatsu so that she can bring him back to life. After Waller discovers that the virus has two components, she has Oliver and the team steal the second component from the Hong Kong military's laboratory department. Oliver succeeds in attaching a tracking device to one of the defenders before he escapes, which is now supposed to lead them to Tatsu.

After Tatsu can cure Oliver and she explains to him that the cold and his will to live have kept him alive, he tries to prevent Maseo from returning to the League of Assassins, where he has a different identity under the name "Sarab". Laurel continues her sister's business on the street as Canary, helping out citizens, but realizes she still needs a lot of training. A meeting at the police station is victim of an attack by Danny Brickwall and his gang, who kidnap the councilors. Merlyn plans to leave Starling with Thea to get to safety from Ra's al Ghul, but Thea, unaware of Merlyn's conflict with Ra's, decides to stay in Starling and engage in the fight. Diggle and Roy are ready to add Laurel to the team to stop Brick together. They can track him down using surveillance cameras, but they cannot prevent him from escaping. Captain Quentin Lance mistakenly thinks Canary is Sara because Laurel has still not told him about her death. Eventually Brick demands the withdrawal of any police force from the Glades for the city council's clearance. Felicity got over Oliver's apparent death and rejoins the team. With their help, the kidnapped town councilors can be located and released from Bricks captivity by Diggle, Roy and Laurel. The Verdant's DJ, Chase, hired by Thea, eventually reveals himself to be a league spy by informing Maseo, who has returned to Nanda Parbat, that Merlyn Starling will not leave. Thanks to the tracking device, Oliver and Maseo can track Tatsu in a club where, to Oliver's horror, Maseo China White is offering the second part of the virus. However, there is a fight in which Oliver and Maseo can escape with Tatsu and the virus component.

Oliver has recovered from his injury and intends to return to Starling. Felicity discovers that Brick murdered a councilor with the same weapon as Malcolm Merlyn's wife 21 years ago. By observing the team on a secret camera, he learns that he took revenge on the wrong perpetrator. Felicity can track Brick's crew through their communication devices in the Glades police station. There Roy and Laurel can penetrate through the thugs up to Brick, from which they have to be saved by Merlyn as Dark Archer. He then offers the team to work together, which it refuses due to its past actions. Instead, the team decides to call the citizens of the Glades together to fight Brick and his gang together. The Glades residents, including Ted Grant and Sin, gather in front of Bricks men and a street battle breaks out. In a side street, Merlyn finally meets Brick, ready to take his revenge, but before he can kill him, the returned Oliver appears and is able to stop him. Brick is arrested by the police and Arrow thanks the city's brave fighters and swears that from now on he will always protect them. Oliver then asks Merlyn to teach him how to fight so that he can defeat Ra's al Ghul, which, despite the joy of Oliver's return, deeply shocks Felicity. After his wife is murdered, Malcolm Merlyn goes to Nanda Parbat to join the League of Assassins for training.

When Werner Zytle was brought to prison, he managed to escape with the help of one of the reporters present. On Merlyn's advice, Oliver lets Thea in on the secret of Arrow by showing her his lair. Oliver and Roy can track down the journalist who helped Zytle escape, but they cannot prevent him from blowing himself up with an explosive vest. After Laurel repeatedly felt Oliver's dislike for her help as Canary, she made her own way to the harbor to stop Zytle. However, she cannot fight him and is infected with Vertigo, whereupon she imagines she is fighting against her sister Sara, who does not allow Laurel her inheritance as Canary. Oliver and Roy can locate her by tracking device and rush to her aid, but they can only put Zytle to flight again. Finally, an antidote is administered to Laurel in the base. Thea spends the evening with DJ Chase, who tries to poison her, which leads to a fight, which Roy and Merlyn also join. After Chase, Ra's al Ghul's henchman, realizes that he has been defeated, he uses the poison to commit suicide. Felicity finds out where Zytle is and when Oliver and Laurel attack, Laurel and Zytle fight again. This infects them again with vertigo, which causes the same hallucinations as the first time. However, she can overcome this and defeats Zytle. Laurel then feels ready to reveal the truth about Sara to her father, who then falls into deep grief. Oliver and Thea finally leave for Lian Yu so that Thea can prepare for the fight against Ra's. After Maseo tries to escape, he and Oliver are captured by Waller and taken to Starling City.

While training with Thea on the island, Oliver receives a call from Merlyn explaining that he has released Slade from prison so that as part of training, the two of them can fight him and regain their killing instinct. Slade can surprise and incapacitate them before he locks them in his cell, from which they can quickly escape. While fleeing to her plane, Oliver then tells Thea the truth about the fact that she killed Sara, drugged by Merlyn. Suddenly Slade appears, who the two can defeat together by Thea shoot him, and finally lock him back in his cell. Upon arriving at Starling, Thea shows Merlyn her anger over his act. China White plans to sell the virus in Starling City as it is getting help from her partner Peter Kang, whom Oliver recognizes as a Queen Consolidated businessman. Oliver's order is now to go secretly to Queen Consolidated's central computer in order to steal Kang's files from there, which he succeeds in without being discovered. While Maseo is analyzing the data afterwards, Oliver sneaks into a party organized by Tommy Merlyn, at which he kills Thea's drug dealer unnoticed. When the police arrive, Oliver is taken away by Maseo, who then explains to him that he no longer wants to work for Waller, regardless of the consequences, since he has learned the negative effects his death had on his family and friends. In an attempt to subvert China White's virus auction, numerous ARGUS agents are killed, but Maseo is saved by Oliver at the last moment. Maseo and Oliver can turn off the two fleeing White and Kang and secure the virus component. Ultimately, Oliver is said to be questioned about this mission by military officer Matthew Shrieve in Hong Kong before he can finally return to Starling.

Nyssa al Ghul confronts her father Ra's that Oliver Queen survived, whereupon she makes her way to Starling. While training for the league, Thea tells Laurel that it was she who, influenced by Merlyn, killed Sara. Laurel is sympathetic to her, but is angry with Merlyn. Thea then contacted the League, who immediately dispatched assassins and captured Merlyn. To the displeasure of his team, Oliver wants to free this because he does not want to do it to Thea that she is at some point plagued by overwhelming feelings of guilt, as she would be responsible for the death of Merlyn. Felicity locates a helipad to which Oliver goes, but he can only stop Nyssa before the helicopter flies away with Merlyn. The captured Nyssa voluntarily reveals the exact coordinates of Nanda Parbat to Oliver, whereupon he and Diggle leave under the protest of the team and Thea. Meanwhile, in Nanda Parbat, Merlyn begs for mercy, which Ra's does not grant him, instead he lets him be tortured. Despite great resistance, Oliver and Diggle manage to get into the fortress and find the injured Merlyn, but they are discovered and imprisoned in the process. After Felicity and Ray sleep together, he manages to calculate the last component to build his exoskeleton, whereupon he flies over Starling with the assembled suit. Ra's al Ghul finally explains to Oliver that he doesn't intend to kill him, but wants Oliver to take his place. After questioning in Hong Kong, Oliver and Maseo's family are allowed to return home, but are attacked on the way to the port and eventually separated.

Oliver refuses al Ghul's offer, whereupon he lets him go with Diggle and Merlyn as a token of his goodwill. After Oliver also releases Nyssa in return, he wants to return to his usual activity as Arrow by trying to prevent the robbery on a diamond transport, which he fails except for a few captured robbers. Arrow leaves this to Captain Lance, who, however, has realized that Arrow has kept Sara's death from him and has now ended the collaboration with him. Felicity finds out that the gang leader's name is Michael Amar and that he was once jailed for a police officer-forced confession and that his mouth was sewn shut. Now he wants to take revenge on the police and uses the police's protective vests to penetrate diamond projectiles. Despite his team's disagreement, Oliver begins to consider what options he would have as the leader of the league to put a stop to the crime in Starling. Eventually the police station is attacked by Amar's gang, but Oliver's team, with the unexpected help of Nyssa, manages to stop the attackers and arrest Amar. Nyssa, who has left Nanda Parbat because of her father's decision to spare Oliver and Merlyn, goes to Laurel and offers her to train her. Meanwhile, Oliver meets with Maseo and explains to him that he will not accept al Ghul's offer, whereupon Maseo tells him that Ra's al Ghul's prophecy will nevertheless turn out as he had intended. Finally, Ra's in the form of Arrow mercilessly kills the last remaining members of Amar's accomplices, except for one, who is supposed to pass the story on to damage Arrow's reputation in the city. Oliver and Maseo's son Akio go in search of Maseo and Tatsu when they are pursued by mysterious men. On the run, Oliver meets Shado, who was believed to be dead.

After Diggles and Lyla's wedding, ARGUS instructs them to end a hostage situation in a hospital in the Kasnia region, in which the American Senator Cray is involved, and they are made available to Task Force X members Deadshot and Cupid. Oliver realizes that the copycat attacker is Ra's al Ghul and his assassins trying to turn the city against him, while Ray Arrow declares war in a public press conference. With the help of his new suit, he can identify Arrow in the distance as Oliver Queen through a special X-ray camera in his helmet. Meanwhile, Diggle, Lyla, Deadshot and Cupid break into the hospital in Kasnia and discover that the Senator is the real initiator of the hostage situation. He explains that his plan was to break up his own hostage situation and thus return as a celebrated senator and be nominated for president. Ray, meanwhile, pursues his plan against Arrow, whereupon he embroils him in a fight, from which Arrow emerges as the victor. Contrary to his expectations, he helps Ray up and shows him that they are not enemies. The team in Kasnia is able to free the hostages with a surprise attack, but the senator escapes and activates time bombs. Deadshot is still on the rooftop as a sniper, and after reminiscing about his time as Floyd Lawton with his family (see below) , the hospital goes up in flames with him. Since Ray is now convinced of Arrow's innocence, he and Felicity visit the mayor. However, this falls victim to the arrow from Maseo, who then targets Felicity. Returning to his family after the war, Floyd Lawton is so traumatized that he threatens his wife with a gun. When he ends up in jail, a HIVE agent pays him a visit and offers him the job of killing Andrew Diggle for a lot of money.

Ray throws himself protectively in front of Felicity when Maseo shoots his arrow at Felicity and is hit in the chest. After Captain Lance, who is also present, sees Maseo, disguised as Arrow, flee, he publicly announces the hunt for Arrow. With the help of Nyssa, Oliver can find Maseo and a fight with several assassins from the league ensues. After these are defeated, Ra's al Ghul appears and makes it clear to Oliver that he should take his place when they are suddenly discovered by the police. After a lengthy chase, Oliver and his team manage to escape the police. Captain Lance is eventually kidnapped by a League assassin and taken to Ra's, who shows him that Arrow is Oliver Queen before letting him go again. Meanwhile, Ray, who is hospitalized, is diagnosed with a blood clot that could kill him. At Ray's instructions, Felicity smuggles into the hospital nanoparticles specially developed by Ray for such a purpose and secretly injects them into him. The particles work and Ray is healed. Lance eventually announced at a city press conference that Oliver was Queen Arrow. After Oliver is unsuccessfully pursued by the police in his identity as Oliver Queen, he sees no other option and turns himself in to the police. During Oliver's transport of prisoners, however, Roy appears, dressed as Arrow, who pretends to be the real Arrow. It turns out that the woman Oliver meets on the run is Shado's twin sister Mei, who then takes him and Akio into her home. When he reveals to her that her sister and father are dead, ARGUS agents storm the house. After they are eliminated by Oliver, Maseo and Tatsu finally appear.

After Roy allows himself to be arrested, the allegations against Oliver are withdrawn despite Captain Lance's protest. A meta-being from Central City, who has the ability to fire plasma beams over the eyes, robbed Starlings Bank, but since Oliver as Arrow cannot intervene at the moment, he asks for help from Ray, who is now in his suit, which he calls "Atom" , has integrated a remote control. In the hiding place, Diggle and Felicity explain to Oliver with the living Roy at their side that the plan was to fake Roy's murder with a heartbeat suppressing substance, so that Arrow will now be considered dead and Oliver innocent. Roy is forced to leave the city and says goodbye to the team. Finally Ra's appears at Thea's home and knocks her down with his sword after a duel. After Oliver and the Yamashiros seek shelter, Oliver infiltrates the ARGUS area, where he meets the injured Waller, who explains to him that General Shrieve has held them captive and intends to set the virus free in Hong Kong for economic reasons To weaken competitors China. When Oliver learns from Maseo of the possibility of saving Thea with the help of the Lazarus Pit, a magical pool of water in Nanda Parbat that heals all wounds and kept Ra's al Ghul alive for centuries, he and his team go there, knowing that that he must respond to al Ghul's request to become the leader of the League of Assassins. Arriving in Nanda Parbat, Thea is immersed in a ritual in the pit of Lazarus and comes back to life, whereupon she attacks Oliver in a state of mental confusion and has to be immobilized with an anesthetic. After Felicity confesses her love to Oliver and they sleep together, she drugged him to start a secret escape attempt with Merlyn, Diggle, the dazed Thea and the unconscious Oliver. In the process, however, they are discovered and stopped by assassins, whom the awakened Oliver holds back by making it clear to Felicity that he has come to terms with his fate as the new Ra's al Ghul. After saying goodbye to his friends and half-sister, Ra's explains to Oliver that his previous identity must be erased, and he is first branded. He is then dressed like an assassin and given the name "Al Sah-him". In search of the virus, Oliver, Maseo and Tatsu attack a military transporter, which, contrary to their expectations, does not contain the virus. They get the whereabouts of one of the injured soldiers, a market in Hong Kong. There it comes to a fight between Oliver and the owner of the virus, in which the ampoule breaks on the floor and the toxic gas escapes into the air.

In Nanda Parbat, Oliver has to endure tough training to forget his past and become an assassin. Ra's tells Oliver about Damien Darhk, a former member of the League, who once challenged him for the demon's inheritance, the successor as Ra's al Ghul. Ra's defeated Darhk in battle, but did not kill him, whereupon Darhk fled and built his own organization of fighters. Therefore, he asks Oliver to kill Nyssa, his only competitor in the succession. When Oliver comes to Starling with the support of some assassins, Laurel, who has become friends with Nyssa while training, tries to persuade Diggle and Felicity to help Nyssa. Oliver faces this alone and loses the fight, but shortly before Oliver can kill her, Diggle and Laurel appear and chase him away. Oliver then changes his plan by kidnapping Lyla to exchange Nyssa for her. The team accepts the offer, but while trying to trap Oliver and the assassins in the exchange, the assassins forcibly take Nyssa and Oliver wounds Diggle. Before he can kill him, Thea shows up with a bow and arrow and puts Oliver to flight. In Nanda Parbat, Ra's decides on the marriage between Oliver and Nyssa and reveals Oliver's final test: he has to destroy his hometown Starling City with the help of the virus that Nyssa once stole from her father and has now been found back from her. The escaping virus is gradually causing Hong Kong residents to die, while Oliver, Maseo and Tatsu remain unscathed thanks to the antidote. After destroying a US military replenishment source of the virus, they find Akio infected despite the antidote.

Merlyn eventually reveals Oliver's disguise to get Ra's mercy, which Oliver denies. In order to then put him to the test, Ra's releases the virus in the cell of Oliver's friends, while Oliver looks on without resistance. While the wedding between Oliver and Nyssa then takes place, the individual prisoners gradually lose consciousness. With a hopeless prospect for his son, Maseo tries, with the help of Oliver, to steal an antidote from the base of the US military. They fight their way up to General Shrieve, whom they then bring to Tatsu and Akio for the complicated injection of the supposed antidote. Without knowing that Shrieve has set a trap for them, since they have now revealed their hiding place to the military, Oliver is targeted by snipers, while Akio slowly dies in Tatsu's arms.

When Merlyn has previously provided the individual prisoners with an immunizing skin patch unnoticed, they wake up again and are then freed by Barry Allen, whereupon they are returned to Starling. Meanwhile, the plane sabotaged by Oliver and Nyssa threatens to crash with the virus, which Oliver uses to attack Ra's, who, however, jumps out of the plane with the virus and a parachute before Oliver has to make an emergency landing. After returning to the team, the plan to swap Damien Darhk for al Ghul's virus fails, but when Ra's Oliver calls him and explains that the virus is distributed in four locations in the city, these can be located thanks to the weak radiation from Felicity. On site, however, it turns out that four specially infected henchmen are supposed to spread the virus, who can be eliminated but partially release the virus. Oliver finally finds Ra's, informed by a messenger, at the Starling dam, where a fight ensues, which is, however, watched by the police. After Oliver manages to kill Ra's with his sword, he is shot by a police sniper and falls down the dam, but at the last moment he is rescued by Felicity in a nuclear suit. Thanks to his armor, Oliver remains unharmed and Ray succeeds in producing a vaccine and using it to contain the virus that has been released. Thereupon Oliver announces a break in front of the whole team, which he will take with Felicity, says goodbye and gives Merlyn the title of Ra's al Ghul before that. While Ray's attempt to shrink his suit leads to an explosion at Palmer Technologies, happy Oliver drives away with Felicity. Oliver unexpectedly attacks Shrieve, whereupon soldiers storm the room, but they can be killed by Maseo and Oliver. When Oliver then tortures Shrieve to the point of unconsciousness in revenge, Maseo comes and redeems Shrieve with a fatal shot. After Maseo leaves Tatsu in mourning over her dead son, Oliver also says goodbye to Tatsu and gets on a cargo ship to Coast City, explaining that he does not want to face his family immediately after past events.

Season 4

The first broadcast of the fourth season was from October 7, 2015 to May 25, 2016 on the US broadcaster The CW . The German-language premiere of the first 21 episodes sent the German pay-TV transmitter RTL Crime March 3 to July 7, 2016. Oliver has retired with Felicity and leads a quiet life in the small town of Ivy Town . Star City, which was renamed in honor of Ray Palmer, who was declared dead, is suffering from robbers known as “ghosts”, with which both the police and the new team around Diggle, Laurel and Thea aka Red Arrow are overwhelmed. Shortly afterwards, all members of the crisis team, which has run the city since the mayor's assassination, except for Captain Lance, are murdered by the group. At Laurel and Thea's request, Oliver grants the team his help despite Diggle's objection, who has not forgiven Oliver for the kidnapping of his wife Lyla. After the team, with the help of Felicity, locates the location of the bombs stolen by the "ghosts", they witness the supernatural powers of their leader there before intervening and a fight breaks out. Oliver learns that the bombs are being used to inaugurate the station when the police appear and force everyone to flee. After the unsuccessful search of the station, the team noticed that the explosive charge was in the arriving train, which Oliver then broke into that evening. He meets Damien Darhk, the leader of the "ghosts", who, however, is superior to him with his mystical abilities. Just in time, Diggle throws Darhk to flight with his pistol, whereupon Oliver blows up the train in front of the station. Back at the base, Oliver reveals that he wants to help the city fight HIVE, Darhk's organization, and publishes a video as the new "Green Arrow". It is then revealed that Captain Lance is cooperating with HIVE and, like Oliver, is mourning a grave six months later. In Coast City, Oliver tries to prosecute criminals, but fails. He is visited by Amanda Waller, who kidnaps him and exposes him to Lian Yu, where he is supposed to observe the area and report threats.

As the "ghosts" continue to terrorize the city, Jessica Danforth, a former friend of Moira, begins a candidacy for mayor.
