Count Arthur v. Reventlow

Count Arthur von Reventlow ( January 4, 1817 at Sandbjerg Castle ; † February 8, 1878 ibid) was a German administrative lawyer in the Duchy of Schleswig .

Life

Count Reventlow's parents are Count Ludwig Detlev Reventlow (1780–1857) and Agnes geb. v. Hammerstein-Loxten (1795-1824). Ludwig Graf zu Reventlow is a brother.

Arthur attended the old grammar school in Flensburg . After graduating from high school, he studied law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . In 1835 he became a member of the Corps Vandalia Göttingen. As an inactive , he moved to the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel , where he passed the exam in 1842. After two years as secretary of the bailiff in Süderdithmarschen , he was an auscultant at the Schleswig Higher Court from November 10, 1843 to September 24, 1847 and then an auscultant at the Schleswig-Holstein government at Gottorf Castle . The small office of Lügumkloster was established in 1850 with the office of Tondern under a bailiff - under Arthur v. Reventlow - connected. Previously, the office of the Lügumkloster was combined with the Aabenraa office .

As a war volunteer , Count Reventlow fought with the Danish Hussars against the Schleswig-Holstein uprising . In 1849 he was appointed second lieutenant and prime lieutenant à la suite . On July 19, 1850 he was appointed bailiff in Tønder Amt and Løgumkloster Sogn as well as chief dichgrave . On September 27 of the same year he married Georgine Albertine Ernestine von Ahlefeldt (1828–1902), daughter of Carl Friedrich Georg von Ahlefeldt on Saxtorf . In 1853/54 he was commissioner for the Crown of Denmark in the Schleswig State Assembly . On April 11, 1860 appointed bailiff for Kiel , Kronshagen and Bordesholm , Reventlow became curator of Christian-Albrechts-Universität and chief city director of Kiel. At the same time he was commissioner for the Preetz monastery and many noble estates. When the federal execution against the duchies of Holstein and Lauenburg occupied Holstein in 1863, Reventlow took his leave in December 1863.

After the Duchy of Schleswig came to Prussia through the German-Danish War and Austria was defeated in the German War , the Province of Schleswig-Holstein was created . Reventlow tried in vain for a post as district administrator ; Constantin von Zedlitz-Neukirch appointed him as head of a commission for hydraulic engineering . In 1865 Reventlow retired to Sandbjerg Castle. He was buried in the church of Dybbøl Sogn .
