Asian Film Award 2015

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Asian Film Award 2015 was the ninth edition of the Asian Film Award to date . The award for outstanding achievements by Asian filmmakers, which has been presented annually since 2007, is now one of the most influential film prizes in Asia.

A 14-person jury with representatives from a representative cross-section of the Asian film industry and two representatives from Europe awarded prizes in 14 categories. There were also two special awards.

The award ceremony took place up to and including 2013 as part of the Hong Kong International Film Festival , followed in 2014 by the move to the Macau Special Administrative Region of China , located around 50 kilometers west of Hong Kong . The award ceremony took place there in March 2015 in the Venetian Theater of the Venetian Casion and Hotel . This was the second time that Macau was the venue for the event; In addition, the award ceremony was organized jointly for the second time by the film festivals in Hong Kong, Busan and Tokyo .

jury

Representatives of the former crown colony of Hong Kong made up the largest group within the 14-person jury with almost 30% or four items. With the film producer and film director Mabel Cheung, Hong Kong appointed the jury president. The other three members were actor and singer Aaron Kwok, film critic Clarence Tsui ( The Hollywood Reporter ) and Li Cheuk-To, Artistic Director of the Hong Kong International Film Festival.

With Japan and South Korea, two countries each sent two representatives to the jury: Tetsuya Bessho (actor and founder of the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia) and Kenji Ishizaka (program director of the Tokyo International Film Festival ), respectively Huh Moonyung (film critic for Cine 21 ) and Kim Ji-seok ( Busan International Film Festival ).

Four other countries took part in the jury with one member each: The Philippines with Ronald Arguelles (head of the pay-TV channel Cinema One ), Indonesia with John Badalu (envoy for the Berlin International Film Festival and the Shanghai International Film Festival ), and China Li Shaohong (film director) and Taiwan with Jeane Huang (director of the Taipei Film Festival ).

The European representatives on the jury were Alberto Barbera from Italy (head of the Museo Nazionale del Cinema in Turin and director of the Venice International Film Festival ) and Christian Jeune from France ( Cannes International Film Festival ).
