The Ausee Triathlon is a triathlon sporting event that has been held annually since 1992 on the Ausee near Blindenmarkt in the Mostviertel in the Melk district in Lower Austria ( Austria ).

This sprint distance triathlon competition has been held annually in August since 1992 (no event in 1993). The organizer is the Tria Team Lower Austria West .
The Ausee Triathlon is also regularly the Lower Austrian Triathlon Championship, the Austrian Championship of Doctors, the ASKÖ State Championship and the ASKÖ Federal Championship.

In the summer of 2002 the race had to be postponed to September due to the flooding . With 400 registered individual starters and 40 relays, the 2011 event was sold out weeks earlier. Of the 342 athletes who finally started, 339 reached the finish.

In 2015 there were 319 individual starters and 50 relay teams. The race was last held here on August 15, 2017 and the Ybbstaler Victoria Schenk won the women's championship for the fifth time in a row.

On August 15, 2018, Ausee was again the venue for the Lower Austrian Sprint Triathlon Championships. The Ausee Triathlon has been organized by Bestzeit Event & Sport since 2019 . The 28th event took place here on August 15, 2020.

Route

The triathlon covers distances of 700 m swimming, 20 km cycling and 5.1 km running. One lap is swum in the Ausee, the bike course goes over two laps and the final run over three laps around the Ausee.

In 2000, the Austrian national triathlon championship on the short distance was held here in Blindenmarkt (1.5 km swimming, 41 km cycling and 10 km running).
