Michaela Herlbauer (* 17th October 1986 in Linz as Michaela Reichör ) is a former Austrian triathlete . She is state champion in the long-distance triathlon (2016) and middle distance (2014). Herlbauer ranks fifth in the best list of Austrian triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Michaela Reichör switched from swimming to triathlon at the age of 14. From 2008 to the end of 2011, she had to take a break for health reasons. Michaela Herlbauer has been married to the Salzburg triathlete Daniel Herlbauer since 2011 . She lives in Hallein .

She started on the Olympic distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running) as well as in triathlon competitions over the middle distance. In 2014 she also competed in the long distance for the first time.

State champion triathlon middle distance 2014

At the Challenge Walchsee-Kaiserwinkl in August 2014 she became Austrian state champion in the triathlon middle distance (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running). In September she was third on the long distance at the first edition of the Challenge Weymouth .

State champion triathlon long distance 2016

In June 2016 she was second at Ironman Austria at her fifth start on the long distance and she secured the title at the state championship on the long distance as the fastest Austrian. At the Ironman Hawaii in October, she finished 18th as the best Austrian.

She is trained by the Englishman Alun Woodward . She starts for the Tri Team Hallein club . In April 2017 she was second at Ironman 70.3 Texas and three weeks later also second at Ironman Texas . In July she finished fifth as the best Austrian at the Ironman European Championships in Frankfurt.
This made her the only Austrian professional athlete to qualify for a place at the Ironman Hawaii 2017. In October, she finished 19th despite a broken foot. After her foot injury, she announced a start at Ironman 70.3 St. George in May 2018.

In October 2018, with a time of 8:45:29 h, she finished second at the Ironman Louisville - the race had to be held over a shortened swimming distance. In 2019, she took a break and announced that she was expecting her first child. She has been the mother of a daughter since the end of August.
