Simone Fürnkranz (born September 20, 1979 in St. Pölten ) is an Austrian triathlete . She is state champion on the triathlon sprint distance (2015), short distance (2017) and on the triathlon middle distance (2011, 2013, 2015, 2017).

Career

Simone Fürnkranz studied at the Vienna University of Technology .

State champion triathlon middle distance 2011

In 2011 she became Austrian triathlon state champion in the middle distance (double Olympic distance). Fürnkranz starts for the Union RC Sparkasse Renner Langenlois association and the top team Tri Lower Austria .

State champion triathlon sprint distance 2015

In June 2015 she became state champion on the triathlon sprint distance at Neufelder See. After 2011 and 2013, in July 2015, she won the title of the state championship in the middle distance triathlon for the third time. In September Simone Fürnkranz also became Duathlon Vice State Champion.

At the Ironman 70.3 World Championship, the then 35-year-old became age group world champion in Zell am See in August 2015 .

In August 2016 she won the Krems Triathlon on the Olympic distance for the fifth time , and in 2014 she also won the sprint triathlon here.
In September she was seventh at the European championship on the half distance as part of the Challenge Walchsee-Kaiserwinkl . Two weeks later in Deutschlandsberg she was also third in the state championship on the short distance duathlon.

State champion triathlon short and middle distance 2017

In May 2017 she became national champion in the middle distance for the fourth time. In June she became vice state champion on the triathlon sprint distance at the Piberstein Triathlon and also triathlon state champion on the short distance in July.

On July 14, 2018, she became Austrian Vice State Champion over the Olympic distance at the Mostiman Triathlon . In 2019 she finished fifth at the Triathlon State Championship in July.

Simone Fürnkranz lives in Paudorf .
