KK Autobacs Seven ( Japanese 株式会社 オ ー ト バ ッ ク ス セ ブ ン , Kabushiki-gaisha Ōtobakkusu Sebun , Engl. Autobacs Seven Co., Ltd. ) is a company in the field of motor vehicles and accessories from Japan and a former automobile manufacturer.

Company history

Toshio Sumino founded the company Suehiro Shōkai ( 末 廣 商会 ) in Osaka in February 1947 to sell spare parts for automobiles . In August 1948 it became KK Fuji Shōkai ( 株式会社 富士 商会 ). In March 1980 the company name changed to today's KK Autobacs Seven . Autobacs stands for Appeal ("Stimulus"), Unique ("Unique"), Tire ("Tire"), Oil ("Oil"), Battery ("Battery"), Accessory ("Accessories"), Car Audio (" Car radio ”) and service .

Sales outlets abroad were opened in Taiwan in 1991 , in Singapore in 1995 , in Thailand in 2000 , in France in 2001 , in the USA in 2003 and in the People's Republic of China in 2005 . The company's headquarters are in Kōtō , Tokyo .

In 2001 the insolvent automobile manufacturer Tommy Kaira was taken over. The vehicle division was called Autobacs Sports Car Laboratory (ASL). In December 2001 the first car was presented, designed by Kikuo Kaira. The brand name was ASL , Autobacs or Autobacs Seven .

The company responsible for production, Autobacs Sports Car Laboratory (UK) Limited , based in London, existed from November 28, 2003 to December 16, 2008 and was headed by Setsuji Ito and Takeshi Shimma. Small batch production for customers began in 2005 at a factory in Norfolk . One source states that production began in 2002 and ended in 2005.

The Garaiya model was a two-seater coupe with a mid-engine . A four-cylinder engine from Nissan with 2,000 cc displacement and 204 hp power powered vehicles. With a wheelbase of 2375 mm, the vehicle was 3775 mm long, 1825 mm wide and 1185 mm high. The curb weight was given as 950 kg.
