Béla Baptiste , also Bela Baptiste , (born March 17, 1988 in Berlin ) is a German - French director , filmmaker and actor .

Life

Education and private matters

Baptiste comes from a family of artists. His mother is a classical singer; his father director and photographer . Baptiste grew up in Paris from 1989 . From 2004 he played theater . He played leading roles in several school theater projects . In 2006/2007 he took acting lessons at Le Vélo Théâtre in Paris with François Ha Van. From 2009 Vienna was his permanent residence. Acting as an actor

In the fairy tale film The Devil with the Three Golden Hairs (2009) he played the role of Hans, the child of fortune, who ultimately became the son of a king. In May 2013 he was seen in an episode role in the Austrian crime series CopStories . Working as a filmmaker

From 2010 Baptiste studied film directing at the Vienna Film Academy ; there were Peter Patzak , Michael Haneke and Murnberger his teachers. In 2014 he obtained his bachelor's degree there. He completed the subsequent master’s degree in 2018.

Baptiste is now mainly active as a filmmaker. He initially directed several short films, including the short film Spring Awakening (2012) with Merab Ninidze . In the same year Baptiste directed two other short films: Trefall (with Merlin Leonhardt and Bruno Thost as grandfather) and Im Vorübergangs (with Aaron Friesz , Nikolai Gemel and Tatjana Alexander as mother). In 2013 he realized the short film Der Umschlag with Lilian Klebow and Cornelia Köndgen as a production of the Vienna Film Academy .

In the short film I Watch Her Sleep (2017), which was screened at the 11th River Film Festival in Padua , Italy , in 2017 , Baptiste worked again with Merab Ninidze as the leading actor, who accused a young woman of a serious crime. Baptiste's 360 ° short film Fluchtpunkt (2018), which was shown at several festivals, won a total of three prizes in 2019: at the Landshut Short Film Festival , the Sehsuchten Student Film Festival and the Satis Expo Festival in Paris . His short film Percht (2018), which takes up the alpine tradition of the " Perchten ", had its North American premiere in June 2019 at the Palm Springs ShortFest .
