BASAR (book series)
Bazaar (proper spelling: BAZAAR ) was a popular book series of the GDR from the publisher New Life in Berlin .
The series mainly featured novels and short stories from different genres and from different countries. These are often adventures and criminal cases from the past, present and future. Most of them are works by German authors, a smaller proportion consists of works by authors from Eastern European countries such as Poland , Hungary and the Soviet Union , but there are also works by American, French, British and other authors. Both individual works and collections are included.
The series was published throughout as a paperback in the format 13 × 20 cm without a dust jacket . All editions were illustrated. Many illustrators worked it to a greater extent already for this or other publishers of the GDR, as Karl Fischer , Reiner Schwalme , Werner Ruhner , Günther Lück and Erhard Schreier .
There are both new releases and re-releases and translations published. The series appeared from 1970 to 1990 and was then discontinued due to the liquidation of the publisher. A total of 80 issues were published, from historical novels to collections of scientific and fantastic stories .
The editions appeared irregularly, up to eight new editions per year, plus a growing number of reprints.
