The Dortmund Möllerbrücke stop is a traffic junction in the south-west of Dortmund city center, not far from the Kreuzviertel and Westpark . The international station number is 8001518 , the operating points abbreviation is EDMB (former railway headquarters E SEN, Station D ortmund M Öller b skidding). The above-ground part is served by the S4 line of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn , the underground part by the U42 line of the Dortmund city railway . The S-Bahn runs every twenty minutes from Unna to Dortmund-Lütgendortmund station , the U42 runs every ten minutes from Dortmund-Hombruch to Grevel. It is located on the historic Ruhr area line of the Rheinische Eisenbahngesellschaft .

history

As early as 1910, a block was built at the site of today's S-Bahn stop . A Dortmund-Möllerbrücke tram stop has existed at the site since 1925. Railway trains have been in service since May 26, 1963. Initially, battery-powered multiple units of type 515 operated , since 1980 n-type cars with 212 units . X-wagons have been in operation since June 3, 1984 , initially hauled by class 111 locomotives , replaced in 1995 by the class 143 . In December 2011, the S4 was also converted to class 422 railcars , 143er with x-carriages have sporadically been found on the student / university amplifier since then.

Immediately next to the train station, an office building spans the S4 tracks. The University Admissions Foundation is located in this building .

Architectural feature

The city station was designed by the architects Kopka and Theil and opened in 2002. The design theme of the city station is "Bridges", the materials used take up the Ruhr sandstone of the Möllerbrücke.
