The railway line from Unna to Dortmund-Lütgendortmund lies in an east-west direction on a railway embankment. The platforms can be reached via stairs and elevators. The underground metro station is served by lines U41, U45, U47 and U49 and runs in a north-south direction. Destinations are Lünen-Brambauer, Dortmund main station , Dortmund-Westerfilde station, Dortmund harbor , the Westfalenhallen Dortmund , Hacheney, Clarenberg and Aplerbeck.
history
The stop is on the Osterath – Dortmund Süd railway line operated by the Rheinische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft or Dortmund Süd – Oberhausen-Sterkrade by the Royal Westphalian Railway Company , in the immediate vicinity of the abandoned Dortmund Südbahnhof . On May 26, 1963, a German Federal Railroad passenger train stopped here for the first time ; the traffic on the line that was not electrified at the time was served by a V 100 with n-type cars . With the introduction of the S-Bahn on June 3, 1984, x-cars with class 111 locomotives ran here for the first time , later with class 143 .
The subway station went into operation on June 2, 1984 with the opening of the trunk line I (Dortmund Stadtbahn) .
future
In the original S-Bahn planning, it was planned to run the S4 via Lütgendortmund to Herne and from there to Essen. This would require a short new line between Dortmund-Lütgendortmund and Dortmund-Bövinghausen, which, however, was rejected by the North Rhine-Westphalian state traffic planning. A direct connection to other cities, apart from Unna, will therefore not be available for the foreseeable future.
modification
The stop is to be modernized and the square is to be beautified; a 60-meter high-rise with restaurants and apartments will be built next to it. The city approved the plans in 2018.
