Bahnsdorf is a district of the city of Uebigau-Wahrenbrück in the Elbe-Elster district in southern Brandenburg . It is located on Bundesstrasse 101 .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1445 as Bahnstorff . The place name is probably derived from a personal name. Accordingly, the owner of the village was a Badmar, Badman, Padmar, Badomar or similar. The shortening of the name resulted in something like Badensdorf , which later became the Bahndorf . Later spellings of the place were: 1456 Badenstorff , 1505 Bansdorff . The village was parish in neighboring Wiederau.
Northeast of the town center was a Vorwerk with sheep, which for good in Neudeck belonged.
Bahnsdorf belonged to the Electoral Saxon Office Liebenwerda until 1816 and then to the Prussian district of Schweinitz .
On December 31, 2001, Wahrenbrück and the city of Uebigau were merged with the communities of Bahnsdorf, Drasdo and Wiederau .

Culture and sights
Buildings and cultural monuments
The war memorial on Bahnsdorfer Berg is located north of Bahnsdorf on federal road 101 . The massive monument, designed with a cave-like interior and provided with inscriptions, was inaugurated in 1908. It is intended to commemorate the inhabitants of Bahnsdorf, Neudeck and Wiederau who fell in the wars of unification in 1864, 1866 and 1870/71 . The monument is now in great danger of collapsing.
Another war memorial for the fallen in these three places is located right next to the late medieval stone church in Wiederau. It is intended to commemorate the two world wars and was last renovated in 2005.
