Barbara Hennings (born July 6, 1944 in Schwerin ) is a German film editor and honorary professor at the Cologne International Film School .

Act

Barbara Hennings learned film editing from 1962 to 1964 in Hamburg . Her training brought her together with well-known editors such as Alice Ludwig-Rasch . Subsequently she worked for NDR television for several years . In the seventies she rented an editing suite at Alsterfilm in Hamburg-Ohlstedt and became a freelance editor. The clients were mainly television stations from Radio Bremen to ZDF. When it happened, she also stepped in as a sound engineer or assistant director . For the Bremen Chamber of Labor she made several documentaries about trades in shipping .

Later she worked with the film directors Michael Verhoeven , Max Färberböck and Peter Timm, among others . They made films together like The Terrible Girl or The White Rose .

She joined the Federal Association of Film Editing Editor immediately after it was founded in 1984, where she served as a managing director for twelve years. She is involved in the promotion of young talent at the International Film School Cologne and has been an honorary professor there to this day (2019).

She won the German Camera Prize in 2000 for the film editing of And Tomorrow The Sun Rises Again . At the 2001 German TV Prize , Hennings was nominated for Best Editing with Nightmare of a Marriage .

In 2009 she received the Geißendörfer Editing Prize for her life's work at the Filmplus Festival in Cologne. From the reason: "In addition to her assembly work, Barbara Hennings distinguishes her commitment to the editing profession."

Barbara Hennings is a member of the German Film Academy . She lives in Hamburg and continues to work as a film editor.
