NDR television is the regional television program of the North German Broadcasting Corporation , which is produced in cooperation with Radio Bremen for the states of Hamburg , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein . The seat of the program directorate, many editorial offices as well as the broadcasting line is in Hamburg-Lokstedt .
history
On January 4, 1965, the NDR, together with Radio Bremen and the former broadcaster Free Berlin (SFB), started broadcasting their own third television program, initially as the “Third Television Program NDR / RB / SFB” (alternatively, various other names were used, or Nordkette for short or Nordschiene, also simply called "The Third" by the audience) for the states of Hamburg, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Bremen as well as for West Berlin.
In 1988 the teletext service Nordtext started. At the beginning of 1989, the station was given the new name N3 and a new logo.
The program was gradually expanded into a full program and since September 1991 has also been received via satellite in almost all of Europe. On January 1, 1992, the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania joined the NDR as the fourth state by means of a state treaty. As a result, the transmission area of N3 increased accordingly, but in October 1992 the SFB left the third television program N3 and then broadcast an independent third television program for Berlin under the name B1 , a predecessor of today's rbb television . With this, N3 (which at the same time received the nickname "North German television") reached its current distribution area.
N3 has been broadcasting around the clock since February 28, 1994, and there was no night-time break.
On December 3, 2001, the program was renamed NDR television . Radio Bremen productions were marked with the Radio Bremen logo for a number of years. The NDR logo is now used throughout.
Since January 3, 2005, the regional broadcasts of Radio Bremen are no longer fed into the joint program of ARD Das Erste , but are broadcast on an independent third program called Radio Bremen TV .
The program schedule of Radio Bremen TV has been reformed since September 2013. As a result, the independent regional window was shortened to the same size as the broadcasts of the NDR regional broadcasters. For the rest of the time, the programs on Radio Bremen TV and NDR TV are identical.
On October 8, 2007, NDR television stopped its analogue broadcast via antenna.
On April 30, 2012, an HD simulcast in the high-resolution 720p format started .
On November 10, 2012, NDR television broadcast the 18-hour television documentary Der Tag der Norddeutsche in real time for the first time .
