Marc Bator (born December 4, 1972 in Hanover ) is a German news anchor and editor . From 2000 to 2013 he was the presenter of the Tagesschau in the first ; since 2013 he has been presenting the Sat.1 news . He was also station voice for NDR 2 .

Life

Between 1985 and 1992 Marc Bator attended the Matthias-Claudius-Gymnasium Gehrden and passed the Abitur there. During his school days, Bator completed editorial internships at radio ffn in Hanover and NDR 1 Lower Saxony , the state program of the North German Broadcasting Corporation . After graduating from high school, he worked there as a radio host.

At the end of 1992 Bator moved to Hamburg , volunteered at the private Alsterradio and took intensive speaking lessons for two years. He worked as a reporter, presenter and news editor.

Television career

From the autumn of 1994, after a casting , Bator was hired as the permanent speaker for ran - Sat.1 football . In the following years he also worked for program providers, production companies and advertising agencies and spoke in over 10,000 advertising campaigns in seven years.

In May 2000, Bator moved to ARD Aktuell in Hamburg as an off-speaker for the Tagesschau . He replaced Hans Daniel , who had been voiceover since 1953. A year later he switched to the camera. A little later he also worked on the evening program via the morning magazine and the afternoon editions. In 2002, Bator spoke the news block in Tagesthemen with Ulrich Wickert and Anne Will . At the beginning of 2005, Marc Bator was the first spokesperson for the Tagesschau's 8 p.m. program.

A year later he hosted Nordtour - the north German travel and wellbeing magazine on NDR television. He also spoke news for the Hamburg Journal. In addition to the Tagesschau, Bator spoke in numerous ARD and NDR productions - on radio and television - from sport to entertainment. In the summer of 2010, Marc Bator started moderating the magazine Mein gute Recht on WDR television, which reports on exciting and unusual legal cases. In July and August 2011 he appeared on the show Ich liebe Deutschland: Das Deutschland-Quiz with Jürgen von der Lippe on Sat.1 .

On May 1, 2012, Bator, a passionate amateur cyclist, made his debut as a live commentator at the cycle race around the financial center Eschborn-Frankfurt, which was broadcast by hr-television . He did this immediately after crossing the finish line in the everyone's race over 100 kilometers, in which he himself had taken part, just like a month before in the race around Cologne .

From May 10, 2013, he took over the 8 p.m. edition of Sat.1 Nachrichten as chief presenter and left ARD. His last Tagesschau broadcast took place on April 27, 2013. On June 8, 2013 and June 12, 2013, he presented the special programs The Flood Catastrophe - Victims and Heroes and The Flood Catastrophe - Fear and Hope for Floods in Germany on Sat.1 . He also moderates the special programs of Sat.1 Nachrichten Sat.1 Nachrichten - Spezial .

Companies

In 2014 Marc Bator founded TEAMVISION sports GmbH, a company for management and marketing in professional sport. TEAMVISION looks after professional cyclists like Lisa Brennauer , Max Walscheid or Pascal Ackermann . Marc Bator completed a certificate course in sports management at the University of St. Gallen in 2018.

Private

Marc Bator has been married since 2004 and has two daughters. He lives in Berlin.

Volunteering

From 2007 to 2010 Bator was stadium announcer for Hamburger SV in the Volksparkstadion together with Dirk Böge and Lotto King Karl . In addition, he supported World Vision Germany from 2008 to 2010 as sponsor of the German Children's Prize and was also a member of the World Vision Germany Board of Trustees (the members of the Board of Trustees contribute their experience and advise the World Vision Presidium on general issues). Since December 2009 he has been the sponsor of the Bethel children's hospice for terminally ill children.

In 2013, Bator was elected President of the Hamburg Cycling Association, which he chaired for a year.
