Game for your country - The biggest quiz in Europe was a quiz show for the three German-speaking countries Germany , Austria and Switzerland . The broadcasts took place live in Berlin . The Saturday evening show was moderated by Jörg Pilawa . The first broadcast of Spiel für dein Land took place in Austria on ORF 2 , but the next broadcasts on ORF Eins . In Germany the program was broadcast by ARD , in Switzerland by SRF 1 .

concept

Three celebrity teams from Germany, Austria and Switzerland competed against each other. In season 1 (2015/16) teams of two played, in season 2 (2016/17) and 3 (2017) teams of three played, with a team captain being present during the entire game and by a different team member in each of the two rounds was supported.

The teams would have to answer questions that mostly had bizarre incidents from the countries on the subject, peculiarities of the nations or also factual knowledge. There were three possible answers to each question. If a team answered the question correctly, it was awarded a point. At the same time, the viewers in front of the television screens could play along using an app or via the web browser and thus also score points for their team. The celebrity teams could score more points in action games. Season 2 always included a Guinness world record attempt , which had been successful twice so far.

The mode for the show's finale was changed between the first and second seasons. In season 1, both team members played in the final and the points earned were converted into seconds at the end of the show (the more points, the more time there was). Starting with the team with the highest points, the moderator asked questions with no alternative answers. If the team answered the question correctly, the time running backwards was stopped. The team could now choose the team that should answer the next question. If the answer was wrong, the time kept running and the team had to answer a new question. The team that had seconds left in the end won the game.

In seasons 2 and 3, after each of the two rounds, one of the three supporting team members was played in a knowledge quiz, who could then also be in the final. For the final, there were "teams" of 1 to 3 people per country. The points achieved in the two rounds were taken into the final. Starting with the team with the highest points, the teams learned the country and subject of the question and could then set points. If you answered the question correctly, you would be allowed to deduct the number of points set for another team and were asked another question. If you answered the question incorrectly, the points will be deducted yourself and it was the turn of the next best team. The team that was the last to have points still won.

Cash prizes were drawn among those playing in front of the television screens: In season 1, only people from the overall winning country could win, in season 2 and 3, 30,000 euros were drawn from among 21 winners: 10 × 1,000 euros per round among people from the winning country of each Round and 1 × 10,000 euros to a person from the overall winner country.
