Barum is a municipality in the Lüneburg Heath in the district of Uelzen , Lower Saxony (Germany). Barum belongs to the joint municipality of Bevensen-Ebstorf and has around 800 inhabitants.

Barum is located in the north of the Uelzen district about five kilometers southwest of Bad Bevensen. The district town of Uelzen is a neighboring municipality and borders on the municipality to the south. The Barumer Mühlbach flows through the main town.
Community structure
The community consists of the districts Barum and Tatendorf-Eppensen with the Hoystorf estate.
Incorporations
On July 1, 1972, the community of Tatendorf-Eppensen was incorporated.

- The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. George in Barum was merged with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Natendorf on June 1, 2012 to form the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Barum-Natendorf in Barum.
- The Catholic faithful belong to the St. Josephs Congregation in Bad Bevensen.

The electoral community has occupied all nine seats since the 2011 local elections.
Mayor / Administration
Hermann Kalinowski (WG) has been the mayor since 2012. Since 2016, following a resolution by the newly constituted municipal council, this has also been the municipal director. The community office is located in the baker's corridor 3.
Public facilities
- In the municipality of Barum there are two local brigades of the Bevensen-Ebstorf volunteer fire department . The Barum fire brigade has existed since 1888 in the form of a volunteer fire brigade. The Tatendorf-Eppensen local defense was founded in 1902 as a compulsory fire brigade. In 1934 the fire department became a volunteer fire department. The fire brigades provide fire protection and general help, especially at local level.

Architectural monuments
- The St. George's Church in Barum was built in the 13th or 14th century. The building consists of a Gothic nave and a free-standing west tower from the 17th century, which was built in half-timbered construction. The church contains a remarkable early Baroque altarpiece from the 17th century.
