European basketball championship 2007 / qualification
This page describes the qualification for the 2007 European Basketball Championship for men. A total of 30 national teams took part in the qualification for the 7 free places. The qualification system introduced in 2005 was continued as part of qualification for the 2007 European Basketball Championship . The teams played in a division A and a division B again . In Division A, the stronger teams played for qualification for the European Championship.
mode
A total of 16 teams took part in EuroBasket 2007 and qualified for the tournament in different ways:
- Greece was automatically selected as defending champions.
- The eight European participants in the 2006 Basketball World Cup - Germany , France , Italy , Lithuania , Serbia , Slovenia , Spain and Turkey - were directly qualified for the 2007 EuroBasket.
- The other seven participants were under the Division A determined. Six participants qualified in the first qualifying round of Division A. As the 16th and last team, Israel was able to secure participation in the European Championship in the additional qualifying tournament of Division A.
- Division B was played parallel to Division A. The first two in Division B will replace the two relegated teams from Division A (Sweden and Finland) in the upcoming division A, which will be used to determine the participants in the 2009 European Championship .
First qualifying round
The first qualifying round was played in 4 groups (A to D). The four group winners and the two best runners-up qualified directly for the European Championship finals in Spain.

The 10 remaining teams (2 second in the group, all third and fourth in the group) contested a second qualifying round (Additional Qualifying Round) . This was played in August 2007 in 3 groups (A, B, C).

Additional Qualifying Tournament
The three group winners from the second qualifying round played an additional qualifying tournament from August 29th to 31st, 2007. The best team qualified for the EuroBasket 2007.

Relegation Tournament
In the relegation round, the last three placed in the additional qualifying round play to remain in division A. Only the winner of this round also plays in the qualification for the 2009 European Basketball Championship in the top division. There the Hungarian national team was able to secure their place in Division A. Sweden and Denmark will only play in Division B in qualifying for the 2009 European Championship .
Division B
In Division B which were Finnish and the British team promotion to the Division A win.
