Beata Tyszkiewicz (born August 14, 1938 in Wilanów ; actually Countess Beata Maria Helena Tyszkiewicz von Kalenicki zu Łohoisk and Berdiczew ) is a Polish actress .

Life

Beata Tyszkiewicz made her film debut as a 16-year-old student in the classic film adaptation Zemsta based on Aleksander Fredro . Filming began in March 1955. Then Beata Tyszkiewicz went back to school, but was not allowed to take the Abitur examination due to her noble origins. She eventually graduated from a Catholic convent school. From 1957 to 1958 she studied acting at the State Drama School PWST in Warsaw. Here, too, she was released from school after a year. In 1960 she returned to film. It was not until 1973 that she received the acting diploma from the Ministry of Culture and Art without any examination due to her successful film work.

Her role as Dona Rebeca Uzeda in The Handwriting of Saragossa by Wojciech Has established her as a character actress . She played aristocratic women several times in the 1960s and from this time also appeared abroad, including in Belgium, Hungary, the GDR, France and Italy. In the 1970s, Tyszkiewicz was also seen in television productions and series such as Wojciech Solarz ' Wielka miłość Balzaka (1972). In the 1980s, roles in comedies predominated, but her portrayal of the cold scientist Berna in Sexmission (1983) was also convincing.

Beata Tyszkiewicz was married to the Polish director Andrzej Wajda . Her daughter Karolina Wajda is also an actress and her father's assistant director.
