Benaocaz ( province of Cádiz ) is a municipality in Andalusia ( Spain ) at an altitude of 793 msnm in the middle of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park . It is a popular destination for hikers. The place is 78 km from Jerez de la Frontera and 113 km northeast of the provincial capital Cádiz . It has 671 inhabitants (January 1, 2019).
Attractions
- Parish Church of San Pedro (built on the remains of a mosque, Renaissance style)
- Ermita de San Blas (the chapel was built in 1716 and renovated in 1924)
- Town hall (the two-storey building was built in the 18th century in the Baroque style)
- Ecomuseo Histórico (since 1999 you can find out about the history of the region in the historical ecomuseum. Each of the five halls is dedicated to a period)
- Calzada Romana (an old Roman road that leads to Ubrique and in ancient times connected the villages of Ocuri and Lacilbula)
