Location of the municipality

Algodonales is a Spanish city in the northeast of the province of Cádiz in Andalusia about 115 km from the provincial capital Cádiz .

The neighboring municipalities are Zahara de la Sierra and Olvera . The city is located in the Sierra de Cádiz, more precisely in the Sierra de Lijar between the rivers Rio Guadalete and Rio Guadalporcún . Algodonales also forms the northern access to the Sierra de Grazalema .

The city lives mainly from agriculture and rural tourism. Algodonales is especially popular with paragliders because of the hilly surrounding area . The town also makes guitars and has a famous olive oil.

Algodonales is located on the Ruta de los Pueblos Blancos , a country road through various so-called white villages of Andalusia.
