Berkley is a city in Oakland County in the US state of Michigan . In 2000, the Detroit suburb had a population of 15,531.

Berkley Downtown is located between 12 Mile Road and 11 Mile Road between the Collidge Highway and Greenfield Road. The eastern city limits are formed by Woodward Avenue .
The area of the city is 6.8 km², with no significant body of water.

At the time of the United States Census 2000, Berkley lived in 15,531 people. The population density was 2288.8 people per km ². There were 6833 housing units at an average of 1007.0 per km². The Berkley population was 96.09% White , 0.70% Black or African American , 0.24% Native American , 1.03% Asian , 0.01% Pacific Islander , 0.40% said other races belong to and 1.53% named two or more races. 1.31% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
