The Lower Old Town is a common quarter in District I, Inner City . Two statistical districts belong to it: The Weisse Quartier and the Green Quartier . In the east it borders on the Matte (quartier) , in the west on the Upper Old Town , the border is the Kornhausplatz.

In 2019, 2280 inhabitants are given, of which 1822 are Swiss and 458 foreigners.

The old town of Bern is (identical to the Inner City), the historical center of the Swiss federal capital Berne and a World Heritage of UNESCO .

In the lower old town, for example, are the Bern Minster with cathedral platform, the Bern City Hall , the newly renovated Casino Bern , the Zytglogge , the Einstein House Bern . The shops and restaurants in the arcades of Kramgasse, Münstergasse and Rathausgasse are further architectural highlights.
