Bernhard Braun (politician)
Bernhard Braun (born June 30, 1958 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German politician ( Alliance 90 / The Greens ).
Life
Braun attended elementary school in his home town of Altrip and graduated from the Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium in Ludwigshafen in 1977. After studying Catholic theology for a semester in Tübingen , he worked as a community service provider for the Christian youth workers in the Diocese of Speyer . He then studied philosophy and political science at the University of Mannheim . After receiving his doctorate on Gustav Landauer , Braun worked in various areas of PR in 1990 . Braun was press spokesman for the Rhineland-Palatinate regional association of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and from 1995 to 1996 advisor to the building and environmental department of the city of Ludwigshafen.

He has been a member of the Greens since 1982. From 1984 to 1989 as well as 1994/1995 and again since 1999 he is a member of the Ludwigshafen city council. In the city council he was group leader of the Greens from 2004 to 2012. From 1996 to 2006 Braun was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament in Mainz , deputy parliamentary group chairman and spokesman for environmental, energy and media policy. From 2007 to 2010 he was state chairman of the BUND -Rhineland-Palatinate. In the state elections in 2011 he was re-elected to the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament. There, the parliament elected him vice-president of the state parliament . In the parliamentary group he is the spokesman for climate and energy policy and a member of the media committee. He is also chairman of the subcommittee on monitoring the energy transition in Rhineland-Palatinate. On May 11, 2016, he was elected parliamentary group leader in the state parliament.
