Bernhard Gottlieb Denzel
Bernhard Gottlieb Denzel , (born December 29, 1773 in Stuttgart , † August 13, 1838 in Esslingen ), was a German educator .
Life
Denzel went to the seminar at the monastery school in Denkendorf and at Maulbronn monastery . From 1792 he studied at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen theology and was an educator and tutor in Frankfurt am Main and assistant priest in Neunkirch .
In 1802 he went to Switzerland and became a pastor in Schaffhausen until he returned to Pleidelsheim as a pastor in 1806 . In 1811 he was appointed inspector of the newly established school teachers' college and at the same time transferred to Esslingen as a deacon, and attracted attention when he tried to reform school lessons in the sense of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, whom he knew personally, so that the government of the Duchy of Nassau gave him the job in 1817 to reorganize the school system there. Soon afterwards he was appointed director and first teacher of the seminary in Esslingen and at the same time received the character of a professor from his government , and from the Duchy of Nassau that of a high school councilor. In 1832 he was promoted to prelate . Denzel contributed significantly to the spread of Pestalozzi's idea of elementary education in southern Germany .
