Career

In his youth, Borekambi last played for the International Berlin Basketball Academy (IBBA) in his hometown, before joining the Eisbären from Bremerhaven in 2009 . The Eisbären provided the 17-year-old with a double license and used him mainly in their reserve team BSG in the 2nd regional league and in the junior team in the youth basketball league (NBBL). In the play-off quarter-finals of the 2009/10 basketball Bundesliga , Borekambi already had a short stint in the top division. For the following season, youth selection player Borekambi, who among other things reached the final at the renowned Albert Schweitzer tournament 2010 with the German U18 selection, switched to league competitor TBB Trier , who used him mainly in the reserve team MJC in the regional league according to the same scheme brought as well as in the NBBL team of Trier. For the NBBL All-Star Game 2011 in the framework of the BBL All-Star Game in front of a home crowd in Trier, Borekambi received a nomination alongside his teammate Maxim Schneider, after the athletic Borekambi was allowed to take part in the Slam Dunk Contest of the Luxembourg League as a guest . However, as there was no further progress under first division coach Henrik Rödl , who had previously coached Alba Berlin 's offspring as a junior coach in Berlin , Borekambi decided to study in the United States and reached an agreement with those responsible in Trier, who were also dissatisfied 2011 to a dissolution of the contract. Borekambi went to study at the College of the Sequoias in Visalia (California), a place where his Trier teammate John Bynum came from. At this community college only for " undergraduates " he played the following two years in the college team Giants in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA).

After his return to Germany, Borekambi first went back to the North Sea coast and got a trial contract in Cuxhaven with the second division BasCats, a cooperation partner of the first division club from Bremerhaven, where Borekambi had already played. Despite a passable debut in the first season game of the ProA 2013/14, the club waived a commitment from Borekambi, who joined the BasketBears from Lich one league lower . In the ProB 2013/14 , Borekambi already received the award as Youngster of the Month for November 2014 in December 2014 , before he also received the award as Player of the Month for January 2014 . After Christian Standhardinger, he was the first player in the 2008/09 season to win the two different monthly awards in one season. However, the former first division team from Lich was eliminated in the first play-off round for promotion to the ProA. For the 2014/15 season , Borekambi returned to Cuxhaven, which has now signed him permanently. In the 2015/16 season he played six ProA games for Nuremberg .
