Bill Payne (born March 12, 1949 in Waco , Texas ) is an American rock pianist and keyboarder . He is also a master of the organ and synthesizer .

Life

At the age of 15 he joined a band for the first time (The Debonairs). The earliest published recordings with Bill Payne are from 1966, when he was a member of the group 'Something Wild' - found on the 1998 sampler 'Thirteen O'Clock Flight To Psychedelphia'.

Payne's music career began in 1969 when he founded the rock band Little Feat together with Lowell George , Roy Estrada and Richard Hayward , with whom he stayed until the band broke up in 1979 and was back with the reunion in 1988. Bill Payne is also a sought-after session musician who has so far been involved in nearly 400 recordings by various artists. These include
