Bird is an American film about jazz musician Charlie Parker from 1988.
action
The film tells the life story of the legendary saxophonist Charlie Parker , nicknamed "Bird". Parker's artistic career has been influenced by drug use, which eventually led to his early death. Jazz aficionado Clint Eastwood and his screenwriter Oliansky find images that give shape to the wild lifestyle of a brilliant artist in a film. The very first scenes introduce the audience to a Charlie Parker who is on the verge of human ruin. Parker comes home drunk, starts an argument with his wife Chan and tries to commit suicide so that he has to be taken to a mental hospital. There they would like to treat him with electroshock therapy. His wife doesn't agree. After all, it is not just any human being, but a sensitive artist. The story of Parker's life will now be told in memories of the beginnings. Chan's memories alternate with Charlie's as she tries to get her husband off the drugs at home.
Reviews
“Despite all the precisely researched facts, not a pure artist biography, but an associative approach to Parker's life and myth created with consistent stylistic devices; characterized by respect and affection for people and their music, which is offered in brilliant sound quality as the key to understanding.
