The diocese of Chitré ( Latin Dioecesis Citrensis , Spanish Diócesis de Chitré ) is a Roman Catholic diocese based in Chitré in Panama .
Pope John XXIII founded it on July 21, 1962 from cession of territory by the Archdiocese of Panama and subordinated it to this as a suffragan . It includes the provinces of Herrera and Los Santos .
