The Black Arrows were the predecessors of the Red Arrows Aerobatic Teams. They were an aerobatic team that was formed in the 1950s by the No. 111th Squadron was formed.

history

One of the many memorable aerobatics performed by the Black Arrows with the support of No. 56 Squadron was the largest demonstration ever flown in formation with 22 Hawker-Hunter aircraft in 1958. To this day, this has never been demonstrated again.

The RAF's Black Arrows were stationed in Suffolk . In April 1961, the 111 Squadron converted to English Electric Lightning and disbanded the aerobatic team.
