The team is part of the flight school of RTAF Squadron at the Royal Thai Air Force Base in the district of Kamphaeng Saen the province of Nakhon Pathom . The team's pilots are also trainers on this basis. Blue Phoenix are heirs to the RTAF flight school's aerobatic team called "Sean Mueang", which was disbanded a few decades ago. That is why they use the name of the immortal phoenix to commemorate the spirit of the Royal Thai Air Force. It is also a symbol of the rebirth of the RTAF's "Sean Mueang" aerobatic team.

The team was formed in early 2012 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Thai aviation . The team made its first public appearance on Children's Day 2012 at Don Mueang Air Base. Other screenings were in April and June, but the main show was on July 2nd at this air base in memory of the Founding Fathers of the Royal Thai Air Force. They flew on March 27, 2012 as part of the opening ceremony of the 100th anniversary of the Royal Thai Air Force. Then they went on a tour to Chiang Mai , Udon Thani and Bangkok .

Blue Phoenix is expected to hold a screening every second Saturday in January in Don Mueang and Kamphaeng Saen in aid of Children's Day.
