The Red Aces are, in addition to the Blue Diamonds, an aerobatic team of the 7th Tactical Squadron of the Philippine Air Force.
history
In 1971, two aerobatic teams were set up on behalf of Brigadier General Jose L. Rancudo. The two teams were formed by the respective squadrons: the 6th Tactical Fighter Squadron (Cobras) and the 7th Tactical Fighter Squadron (Bulldogs). The "Blue Diamonds" aerobatic team of the 6th Tactical Fighter Squadron and the "Red Aces" aerobatic team of the 7th Tactical Fighter Squadron were founded. After her successful appearance at the Aviation Week at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila , thousands of people came to Pangasinan , where the team at Scout - Jamboree offered a demonstration. The team first used North American F-86 Saber Jets. With the end of the Vought F-8 H Crusader service, the Red Aces were temporarily disbanded in 1974. When the Alenia Aermacchi M-345 became available in 1996 , the team was reactivated. Today, reorganized, the team is in great demand. On several occasions it became the main attraction of the International Hot Air Balloon Festival at Clark Air Base, Pampanga.
Merging with the Golden Sabers
With the use of the Vought F-8 H Crusader and the decommissioning of the North American F-86 Saber, the Red Aces were temporarily disbanded in 1974. The team was merged with the "Golden Sabers" team and renamed the "Sabers" aerobatic team. The "Red Aces" were rebuilt in 1996, this time with five Alenia Aermacchi M-345s .
