history

The Patrulla ASPA was founded on September 23, 2003 by the then Chief of Staff of the Air Force (JEMA) Eduardo González-Gallarza. The season finally had its first appearance on May 16, 2004 in Seville . Since then, Patrulla ASPA, stationed at the Armilla Air Force Base near Granada , has participated in numerous air shows in and outside Spain.

The season

The Patrulla ASPA consists of a total of six (plus one as a reserve) Eurocopter EC 120B Colibri helicopters, each manned by two men, with four other pilots standing by as a reserve. The Patrulla ASPA, like the aircraft squadron Patrulla Águila , is not a full-time squadron , the total of 16 pilots are full-time flight instructors for the Spanish Air Force. As a support aircraft for appearances outside Spain, the team is supported by a CASA C-295 .
