Golden Crown (Persian: تاج طلایی, German translated: Goldene Krone) was the national aerobatic display team of Iran and part of the former Imperial Iranian Air Force .

history

Golden Crown was officially established in 1958. Fourteen Iranian pilots traveled to Fürstenfeldbruck airfield in Germany to learn aerobatics in jet planes. Nine of them returned to Iran after a few months, while the remaining five continued their education. After 72 training sessions, the team performed its first aerobatics under Nader Jahanbani in 1958. It was equipped with four Republic F-84 G Thunderjet, by 1959 the fleet grew to nine F-84.

The team was stationed at Tehran-Mehrabad International Airport near Tehran and later in Kooshk Nosrat, 100 kilometers away. During the Islamic Revolution in 1979, the team was also disbanded with the dissolution of the Imperial Iranian Air Force.

The ace of the Imperial Iranian Air Force , Yadollah Javadpour was a member of the Golden Crown from 1975 to 1978. Also yadollah sharifirad was a member of the Golden Crown.
