The Black Cats (dt translated: Black cats.) Is the helicopter - aerobatic team of the British Royal Navy .

history

The Black Cats were founded in 2001. Until 2004, the season had no official name, it was simply known as the Lynx Pair for the first three years . The Cats fly two Sea Lynx helicopters that are actually used for submarine hunting . The planes and squadrons are provided by the 702nd Naval Air Squadron , based at Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton in Yeovil .

The team won the 2003 Steadman Sword at the Royal International Air Tattoo for the best performance by a British competitor.

The Black Cats are the successors of the 1992 disbanded aerobatic team The Sharks , which used four Aérospatiale SA 341/342 .
