Bocé is a town and commune Déléguée in the French commune of Baugé-en-Anjou with 680 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire .

Bocé is located southeast of Baugé on the D 938 departmental road.

history

Bocé was first mentioned in 1036 as Rotbertum . In 1080 the parish was founded and looked after by monks from the Marmoutier monastery .

With effect from January 1, 2016, the municipalities of Bocé , Chartrené , Cheviré-le-Rouge , Clefs-Val-d'Anjou , Cuon , Échemiré , Fougeré , Le Guédeniau and Saint-Quentin-lès-Beaurepaire became part of the existing Commune nouvelle Baugé-en-Anjou integrated. The municipality of Bocé was part of the Saumur arrondissement and the canton of Beaufort-en-Vallée (until 2015: canton of Baugé-en-Anjou ).

Attractions

The Romanesque church of St. Martin de Vertou from the 11th century is built in the typical style of Romanesque churches of Anjou . From time to time concerts are held in the church.
