The canton Beaufort-en-Vallée is a French administrative unit in the Arrondissement Saumur in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire in France .
In 2015 it was completely reorganized and replenished with communities from the abandoned cantons of Baugé-en-Anjou and Noyant . This enlarged the canton to 32 municipalities. Many of these congregations joined together in 2016 to form Communes nouvelles, which meant that the number of member congregations fell to 19 on January 1, 2016, and to the current six on December 15, 2016.

Until the nationwide reorganization of the cantons in 2015, the canton of Beaufort-en-Vallée consisted of eight municipalities on an area of 169.60 km²: Beaufort-en-Vallée (capital), Brion , Corné , Fontaine-Guérin , Gée , Mazé , La Ménitré and Saint-Georges-du-Bois . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 4905.

traffic
There is a junction for the A85 motorway between Beaufort-en-Vallée and Fontaine-Guérin . Parallel to this, the E 60 runs on the route of the national road N 147. The departmental road D 952, which connects Saumur and Angers along the Loire, is of particular tourist importance. With the regional express stop in La Ménitré on the Tours - Nantes route , there is also good accessibility by rail. The Loire, on the other hand, is only of importance as a traffic route for water hikers.
Leisure and Tourism
The Loire Valley is a classic area of French tourism, in which the riverside towns in the canton of Beaufort also participate. Parts of the canton also belong to the Parc Naturel Regional Loire-Anjou-Touraine. The Fontaine-Guérin campsite and swimming lake are known nationwide. The Château de Montgeoffroy near Mazé is particularly popular because of its completely original interior.
