The Canton Durtal was 2015 a French constituency in Arrondissement of Angers , in the department of Maine-et-Loire and the region Pays de la Loire . Its main town was Durtal .

In the course of the reorganization in 2015, the canton was dissolved and most of its communities were assigned to the canton of Tiercé . Only the municipality of Huillé was attached to the canton of Angers-6 .

geography

The canton was in the north of the Maine-et-Loire department between Loir and Sarthe . The former canton is included in the Baugeois landscape .

history

Before France was converted into a republic, Durtal was already the seat of a county. As part of the regional reform of 1790, the canton of Durtal was initially assigned to the Sarthe department. The area, which has long been part of the Anjou , was then transferred to the Maine-et-Loire department in 1806 and became part of the Baugé district . When this arrondissement was dissolved in 1926, it was assigned to the Arrondissement Angers.
