The Canton Longué-Jumelles is a French administrative unit in the Arrondissement of Saumur , in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . Its main town is Longué-Jumelles .
In 2015 it was reorganized and took over municipalities from the abandoned cantons Saumur-Nord and Allonnes . As a result, it has grown to 18 communities on an area of 485.15 km².
geography
The canton is located in the northern part of the Saumur arrondissement around the small town of Longué-Jumelles , which was formed from two formerly independent communities , in a partly flat, partly hilly, predominantly agricultural area, but which also has large oak forests. The canton is included in the Baugeois landscape .

Until the state-wide reorganization of the cantons in 2015, the canton Longué-Jumelles consisted of eight municipalities on an area of 267.55 km²: Blou , Courléon , La Lande-Chasles , Longué-Jumelles (main town), Mouliherne , Saint-Philbert-du-Peuple , Vernantes and Vernoil-le-Fourrier . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 4917.
