The Bootshaus (formerly Warehouse ) is a Cologne discotheque at Mülheim harbor in the Deutz district . The focus is on the electronic music genres Techno , Electro House , Trap and Dubstep .

history

In 1991 the warehouse in Cologne opened as one of the early techno culture venues in Germany. Today's boathouse at the Deutz shipyard was an offshoot. The club gained fame at the beginning with its Loonyland party series, which were organized by Ulrich Rauschenberger (U-Lee) and Sascha Weber. He is still responsible for bookings today. The boathouse has been owned by Fabian Thylmann since 2012 .

Venue

The boathouse is located on the Cologne shipyard site. The club has three rooms and an outdoor area. The main floor offers space for over 1000 guests, here, as in the third room, there is a “ Funktion One ” sound system. The BLCKBX (second room) is dominated by a fan ceiling, which is complemented by sculptures all around the walls. Since March 2016, the boathouse has also housed the cult head of the US artist Elmer Presslee , who built it at ART.FAIR in 2010 .

Mainly DJs from the Electro / House and Trap sectors are booked. a. with live acts like Armin van Buuren , David Guetta , Avicii , Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike , Felix Jaehn , Hardwell , Diplo , Robin Schulz , Solomun , W&W , Headhunterz , DJ Snake , Skrillex , Afrojack , Tiësto , Deadmau5 or Yellow Claw . In addition, the boathouse regularly offers other events in the areas of trance , Goa and hardstyle .

These are usually divided into various party series by the boathouse itself or in cooperation with external organizers.

Festivals

The boathouse is part of some big festivals, so the boathouse u. a. also represented with its own stage at major events such as the BigCityBeats World Club Dome and the Parookaville Festival in Weeze .

In August 2017, the Springinsfeld festival organized by the boathouse took place at Fühlinger See .

Bootshaus Cologne GmbH is organizing two festivals in 2019: The Nibirii Festival at Dürener Badesee (June 1, 2019) and the Blacklist Festival in the Turbinenhalle Oberhausen (October 2, 2019)

Awards

In 2013, in the ranking of the world's best clubs by DJ Magazine , the boathouse was ranked 48th in the top 100 for the first time. In 2018, the club was ranked 11th in reader voting, in 2019 ranked 8th worldwide and 1st place in Germany, in 2020 the boathouse will move to 6.The boathouse also made it to 2nd place in the FazeMag annual poll in 2019 .
