Boyd Fletcher Devereaux (born April 16, 1978 in Seaforth , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 654 games for the Edmonton Oilers , Detroit Red Wings , Phoenix Coyotes and Toronto Maple Leafs in the course of his active career between 1995 and 2010 of the National Hockey League on the position of the center . Deveraux celebrated his greatest career success in the service of the Detroit Red Wings by winning the Stanley Cup in 2002 .
Career
The 1.88 m tall center began his career with the Kitchener Rangers in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft as sixth in the first round by the Edmonton Oilers .
During his time in Edmonton, the left-handed shooter was repeatedly used in the Oliers farm team, the Hamilton Bulldogs , in the AHL . It was only in his last and to date strongest season 1999/00 that the Canadian was a permanent member of the Oilers' regular squad. After this season Devereaux moved to the Detroit Red Wings , where he was for four years on the ice and with whom he 2002 the Stanley Cup could win.
After the 2004/05 lockout , Devereaux moved to the Phoenix Coyotes , via which he finally came to the Toronto Maple Leafs for the 2006/07 season . There he lost his regular place after the 2007/08 season and was sent to the Toronto Marlies farm team in the American Hockey League . After the 2009/10 season , which the Canadian had spent at HC Lugano in the National League A , he ended his active career.
International
With the Canadian U20 national team Boyd Devereaux won the gold medal at the Junior World Cup in 1997 , he himself scored four goals during the tournament, one of them in the semifinals against Russia .
