Bralon Taplin (born May 8, 1992 in St. George’s ) is a Grenadian sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .
Athletic career
Bralon Taplin gained his first international experience in 2014 at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow , where he reached the semi-finals over 400 meters. He then won the silver medal at the U23 NACAC championships in Kamloops .
In 2015 he qualified for participation in the Pan American Games in Toronto , where he was eliminated in the first round with 47.61 s. Taplin also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where he was eliminated with 46.27 s in the preliminary round.
In 2016 he took part in the World Indoor Championships in Portland , where he finished fourth in the final with 46.56 s. During the outdoor season he qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he finished seventh with 44.45 s in the final .
In 2018, Taplin again took part in the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham and was disqualified there in the 400 meter run. In April he finished fifth in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast in 45.38 s.
In 2019 he again took part in the Pan American Games in Lima , where he finished eighth over 400 meters in 46.01 s.
Doping ban
Since Taplin evaded a doping test after winning a meeting on April 13, 2019 in his home country Grenada by leaving the stadium and then the country by plane, he was banned for four years. Taplin appealed and stated that he had not received a request for a control, which the International Court of Justice for Sports (CAS) considered to be "implausible" and confirmed the judgment of the Caribbean Anti-Doping Agency on May 19, 2020. The ban applies until September 24, 2023.
