Brandon Pirri (born April 10, 1991 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League since October 2017 and at the same time for their farm team , the Chicago Wolves , in the position of the center plays.

Career

Pirri began his career as a hockey player in the youth leagues of his hometown Toronto . From 2007 he played in the second-rate Ontario Junior Hockey League for the Streetsville Derbys and then for the Georgetown Raiders . There he was able to draw attention to himself for the first time when he reached the best average point yield in the league in the 2008/09 season with 94 scorer points in 44 games.

In the 2009 NHL Entry Draft , Pirri was then selected in the second round in 59th position by the Chicago Blackhawks . He then moved to the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the US state of New York and ran for their ice hockey team in the NCAA . After finishing his debut season as the team's second-best scorer, Pirri was elected to the all- rookie team of the ECAC Hockey Division .

In August 2010, Brandon Pirri signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Blackhawks and moved to their farm team, the Rockford IceHogs , in the American Hockey League for the 2010/11 season . There he scored 43 points in 70 games in his rookie season , setting a new team rook record. At the beginning of the season he made his debut for the Blackhawks in the National Hockey League on October 9, 2010 in the game against the Detroit Red Wings , in which he remained pointless and punished. The following season he came on five missions in the NHL and scored his first two scorer points. At the same time he rose to the top scorer of the IceHogs in the AHL with 56 points from 66 games and was voted into the AHL All-Star Classic .

At the beginning of the 2012/13 season, Pirri remained in the AHL. He finished his third season with 75 points from 76 games and won the John B. Sollenberger Trophy as the best scorer of the regular season. His 53 assists were also the best in the league. The following season, Pirri was appointed to the Chicago NHL squad for the first time and scored his first NHL goal in the game against the St. Louis Blues on October 17, 2013 . At the same time, he was again on the ice for 26 games for the IceHogs and took part in the 2014 AHL All-Star Classic. Pirri finished the game with a top score of three points and was voted Most Valuable Player of the All-Star Classic.

On March 2, 2014, Brandon Pirri was transferred to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a third-round and a five-round vote . There it was used regularly before the Panthers gave it to the Anaheim Ducks in February 2016 in exchange for a six- round suffrage in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft . Since these did not renew his expiring contract, the New York Rangers secured the services of the free agent for one year in August . Also as a free agent, Pirri joined the newly founded Vegas Golden Knights in October 2017 and also signed a one-year contract there.
