Brandon Thomas Rogers (born February 27, 1982 in Rochester , New Hampshire ) is a former German - American ice hockey player who has spent six seasons in the American Hockey League and one in the German Ice Hockey League .

Career

Brandon Rogers graduated from Hotchkiss School in 2001 . Due to good performance in the ice hockey team of his high school , he was selected in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft in the fourth round in 118th place by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim . Rogers was one of seven players who were drafted straight out of high school in 2001. He then began studying at the University of Michigan and played for the Michigan Wolverines ice hockey team in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's game operations . At the end of the 2001/02 season, Rogers reached with his team as champions of the CCHA the Frozen Four called the final tournament of the National Collegiate Athletic Association , but where they lost in the semifinals. In the next year, the championship of the CCHA could be defended, in the semifinals of the Frozen Four, however, the team lost again. Rogers was the highest point defender of his team and was elected to the CCHA All-Tournament Team. In the 2003/04 season, Rogers was part of the CCHA Second All-Star Team. In his last year as a student he was CCHA champion for the third time and was part of the CCHA All-Tournament Team. As in the previous year, he and his team were eliminated in the second round of the NCAA series.

In September 2005, Rogers took part in the training camp of the Calgary Flames from the National Hockey League . This sent him for the 2005/06 season to the farm team Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights in the American Hockey League . After 42 games, he moved to the Norfolk Admirals in February 2006 . For the Admirals, Rogers also played the next year and was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs . In August 2007 he signed an annual contract with the Houston Eros . After good performance in Houston, he signed a two-year contract with the Minnesota Wild from the NHL in July 2008 . However, Rogers continued to play for the Eros in the AHL and came in 2009 in the playoffs to the conference finals. He was also the assistant captain of his team and was awarded the Yanick Dupré Memorial Award by the AHL , which is given for special commitment to society. In the 2009/10 season , Rogers performance deteriorated due to injury, so he did not get a new offer from the Minnesota Wild. On a tryout basis, however, he initially stayed in Houston and completed one more game for the Eros. Another tryout followed in early November 2010, this time at the Lake Erie Monsters . After seven games, Rogers was out indefinitely due to a concussion and was not given a contract. After he felt no more impairments, he moved in February 2011 to HK Poprad in the Slovakian extra league .

For the 2011/12 season , Rogers signed again in Europe and joined HC Bozen from the Italian A1 series . There he was able to stabilize his performance again and became Italian champions with his team . In April 2012 he signed an annual contract with the Iserlohn Roosters from the German Ice Hockey League . In Iserlohn , Rogers was one of the most important defensive players, so his contract was extended by one year during the 2012/13 season . In May 2013 this was dissolved again, as Rogers ended his career to devote himself to a professional career outside of ice hockey.
