Braxton Miller (* 30th November 1992 in Springfield , Ohio ) is an American American football player , currently a free agent is. He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes as quarterback before moving to the wide receiver position in 2015 . In the 2016 NFL Draft , he was selected in the third round by the Houston Texans .

High school

Before his first year of high school, he moved from Springfield, Ohio to Huber Heights, Ohio to attend Wayne High School . During this time he was u. a. Finalist in the award for the Associated Press Mr. Football Award.

On June 2, 2010, he chose the Ohio State University scholarship. He received other offers. a. from the University of Alabama , University of Cincinnati , University of Florida , University of Georgia , University of Illinois , University of Kentucky , University of Michigan , University of North Carolina , University of Notre Dame , University of Tennessee , University of Southern California , University of West Virginia and University of Wisconsin .

College career

2011

In his first season Miller was the substitute quarterback behind Joe Bauserman , but was still used immediately in the first game against the University of Akron . He brought 8 of 12 passes successfully to the man with 130 yards of space and a touchdown . After he received almost no playing time in the next two games, he was appointed starting quarterback for the fourth game of the season. Against the University of Colorado he made his best game to date, in which he threw 2 touchdown passes at only 83 passing yards and also ran 83 yards. His second start was not very successful in the 7-10 loss to the Michigan State Spartans. He only completed 5 out of 10 passes for 56 yards and threw an interception. In addition, Miller was sacked several times for a total of 27 yards of space lost . In the next game against Nebraska Miller suffered an ankle injury and had to be replaced in the third quarter. After being substituted, the Buckeyes gambled away a 27-6 lead and lost 27-34 with Bauserman as quarterback. In the next week they defeated the University of Illinois, which had been unbeaten in 6 games by then, with a strong running game. In the final game of the season, Ohio won over the Wisconsin Badgers with a last minute touchdown pass over 40 yards from Miller.

After the season, Miller became the seventh player ever in Ohio State University's history to receive the Big-10 Conference's Freshman of the Year Award . He finished the season with 11 passing and 10 rushing touchdowns at 1,692 yards.

2013

As starting quarterback , he led the Buckeyes to the Conference title with 12 unbeaten wins. After the season that ended with defeats in the Big Ten Championship Game and the Orange Bowl , he was voted Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year . Miller gained over 2,000 yards in the passing game and more than 1,000 yards in the running game.

2014

After having had an excellent season as a junior in 2013, Miller was considered a candidate for the Heisman Trophy before his final season in college . However, he injured his shoulder before the first matchday and was out for the entire season.

2015

Due to the oversupply of good quarterbacks at Ohio State, Miller decided before the season to change position and play as a wide receiver in the future.

NFL

In the 2016 NFL Draft , he was selected as the 85th player and thus in the third round by the Houston Texans . As part of the final squad reduction to 53 players before the start of the 2018 regular season , he was dismissed. On September 10, 2018, the Philadelphia Eagles announced the signing of Miller to their Practice Squad.
