Erzingen

Erzingen is a district of Balingen in the Zollernalbkreis in Baden-Württemberg .

geography

Erzingen is about three kilometers southwest of Balingen and is enclosed by the neighboring towns of Endingen , Roßwangen , Dormettingen and Geislingen .

history

Erzingen was first mentioned in 1225 as Arcingin . Presumably, the place arose from two settlements called Erzingen and Böllingen. Lords of Erzingen are mentioned until 1396, from whom the Erzingen in Rottweil probably descended. In 1403 the place came to Württemberg and was later subordinate to the Oberamt Balingen . Thus, since 1806, Erzingen had been part of the newly established Kingdom of Württemberg , from which the national state of the same name emerged in 1919 .

Bronnhaupten was first mentioned in 1140 as Brunnohoubiton . The basic rule was the rule of Kallenberg, with which the settlement came to Austria in 1381. In the 15th century the village was deserted. The goods were acquired from the Geislingen manor. The rulership rights were acquired in 1591 by the Waldburg chiefs. From 1598 Bronnhaupten was temporarily the seat of power. Württemberg acquired all rights in the 17th century. From 1703 it was Rentkammergut and was under the administration in Balingen. In 1852 Bronnhaupten was incorporated into Erzingen.

Erzingen came to the district in 1934 and to the Balingen district in 1938 .

The Erzingen concentration camp existed from 1944 to 1945 in order to extract fuel from oil shale as part of the desert company . Alemanni graves were discovered during earthworks for desert plants 4 and 5 . The defense geology department of the geologist and SS-Hauptsturmführer Jordan examined, drew and registered these graves. The finds were brought to Oswald Pohl in Berlin .
