Bugs Bunny / filmography
This is a list of the various bugs bunny - cartoons .
In Ben Hardaway and Cal Dalton's piggy-dick short film Porky's Hare Hunt , a nameless prototype of the character Bugs Bunny appeared for the first time in 1938, which is also known as "Happy Rabbit" in English. This was followed by three more short film appearances by Bugs Bunny prototypes in Rabbits in a Hat (1939), Hasenfuss auf Kriegspfad (1939) and the Elmer Fudd film Caution Camera! (1940) as well as two short appearances in the two piggy-dick short films Naughty Neighbors (1939) and Patient Porky (1940), until Bugs Bunny in 1940 in Tex Avery's short film The Hare Trap his current appearance and in 1941 in Chuck Jones ' short film Rabbit Plague his current name received.
In the golden age of American animated films, Bugs Bunny appeared in 168 short films in the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series produced by Warner Bros. Entertainment from 1940 to 1964 . He made a brief appearance in six other of these short films. In addition to Tex Avery's Oscar- nominated short film Die Hasenfalle, the two Friz-Freleng short films Hiawathas Hasenjagd from 1941, which also received an Oscar nomination, and Knighty Knight Bugs from 1958, which won the same award, are worth mentioning . Bugs Bunny's three worst opponents are Daffy Duck , Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam .
From 1960 to 2000, the television series The Bugs Bunny Show emerged from these short films , which are also available in various versions under the titles The Bugs Bunny / Road Runner Hour , The Bugs Bunny / Road Runner Show , The Bugs Bunny / Looney Tunes Comedy Hour and The Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show was shown. In German, the series also ran in different versions on ZDF . Once under the title Bunny und seine Kumpane (premiere: August 10, 1970) and later as Mein Name ist Hase (1983–1987).
A few compilation films featuring Bugs Bunny hit theaters in the 1970s and 1980s . In addition, from the 1970s to the 1990s, numerous compilation television specials were published with him, most of which consisted of old short films. Only the CBS television specials Bugs Bunny's Concert of Animals (1976), Bugs Bunny at King Arthur's Court (1978), Bugs Bunny's Looney Christmas Tales (1979) and Bugs Bunny's Bustin 'Out All Over (1980) are completely new productions. The latter two each contain two new short films with Bugs Bunny. In 1990, a television special appeared with comic stars against drugs outside the normal Looney Tunes productions.
Bugs Bunny has appeared in eight other Looney Tunes or Merrie Melodies short films, several television series and direct-to-videos since the 1990s . In the early 2000s, several webtoons were posted with him on the Looney Tunes website. He was also seen in several real-life films that were combined with animations . He had short appearances in Two Guys from Texas (1948), My Dream You're You (1949), Wrong Game with Roger Rabbit (1988) and Gremlins 2 - The Return of the Little Monsters (1990) as well as two leading roles in the films Space Jam ( 1996) and Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003).
Short films
A total of 196 short films with Bugs Bunny or its prototypes are listed. 192 of them are from the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series. One is a propaganda film , one is a Paramount Pictures - puppet film and two come from the Private Snafu series. Of the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies films, 180 were produced between 1938 and 1964 in the golden age of American animation. These consist of 168 regular films with Bugs Bunny, 6 films in which Bugs Bunny only has a short appearance and 6 films in which Bugs Bunny prototypes can be seen (including two short appearances). After the golden age of American animation, a further 12 short films were produced, including 4 films in two television specials and a short appearance by Bugs Bunnys in a 3D animation film .
