The Federal Garden Show 2029 is to take place in the cultural landscape of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley . The BUGA 2029 will be organized in a highly decentralized way along a route of 67 kilometers on the Rhine between Koblenz in the north and Bingen and Rüdesheim in the south.

The Rhineland-Palatinate Development Agency has been coordinating the application for the Federal Horticultural Show since 2016 . The Upper Middle Rhine Valley World Heritage Association applied formally for this - initially for the year 2031. The Federal Horticultural Show Society awarded the show with the option of bringing the event forward by two years to 2029. According to the decision of the association on October 15, 2018, the show should now be held in 2029.

The feasibility study for the BUGA 2029 provides for a renewal of the public infrastructure on the Upper Middle Rhine that can be used for tourism. In addition to fundamental renovations and renovations, the Loreley plateau and castle gardens are to be expanded as attractive tourist destinations. Floating flower halls on the Rhine are also being considered. In addition, broadband connections and mobile Internet are to be strengthened in the region. The Federal Garden Show is also intended to be the “first garden show that can be experienced completely digitally”.

According to the feasibility study, investments amounting to 108 million euros are planned by the federal states, municipalities and the BUGA company.
