Bundesliga Rookie Award
The Bundesliga Rookie Award is an award that the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga has been using every month since the 2016/17 season to select the best young Bundesliga player.
procedure
During the Bundesliga season, the rookie of the month is first chosen in an online vote every month , with three players available. The rookie of the year is chosen from the monthly winners at the end of a season . The prerequisite for being nominated for rookie of the month is that the age of the respective player is not over 23 at the beginning of the season and that he made his debut in the Bundesliga this season. Since the beginning of the 2017/18 season , the German national record player Lothar Matthäus has determined the three players who are available for election. He in turn determines it from five actors who are determined in advance by the official match data of the DFL.
In the 2016/17 season, after the introduction of the Bundesliga Rookie Awards, the rookie of the first half of the season was selected. In this season, the prerequisite for a nomination in addition to the Bundesliga debut was that the player was not older than 21 years before the start of the season.
