The Burgstall Tannburg is located about 1.75 kilometers southeast of the municipality of Dirlewang in the Unterallgäu district ( Bavaria ), on a hill next to the road from Dirlewang to Warmisried and is a registered soil monument. It is a section castle on a north facing mountain tongue. There are two neck trenches about 100 meters apart . Both neck trenches lie between a smaller inner and a larger outer wall. The main castle , which is around 50 meters long , was originally located at the tip of the mountain tongue and was triangular in shape. The moat is crossed by a dam in front of the main castle.
The high medieval castle stable was the seat of an unknown noble family. It was first mentioned in 1363 as a castle stables owned by the Mindelberg family. The Burgstall was awarded to the farmer Cunrat Schellhorn from Leutenhofen in 1461 for a period of 20 years.
